With COSTUME dyeing added, can we get disguises added as costumes, and dyeable?

I'd like for all the disguises to be added as costumes, and become dyeable. It'd be nice if they'd unlock as a costume when the related quest was completed.

Would be willing to buy them as a low cost bundle if dyeable.

Isn't there a disguise that hides vampirism stages?

Can the HOLLOW MOON GARB be added back?

Can we get "hide shoulders" in game options?

no one cares about converting, dying disguises?

Can we at least get disguises not locked to an account so they can be soild?

What about all the clothing items you find with no stats, will they ever be made useful?

I care about it, but it's something that I've talked about many times before and I'm finding it difficult to get the enthusiasm to talk about it again...

Anyway, here's how I would ideally like to see this work.

Step 1: you buy a costume creation token from the crown store (I would expect these to cost about the same as an average costume purchased from the crown store, so somewhere from 400-800 crowns).

Step 2: you equip whatever you want on your character, whether it's armour pieces, clothing items, or a disguise.

Step 3: you use the costume creation token and a snapshot of sorts is taken of what your character is currently wearing (not including weapons of course). This is given a sequential name based on your account name (so for me the first one I created would be Ur-Quan001), and gets added to your collection as a costume.

    Step 5: ???

    Step 6: profit!

You have a most excellent idea there UrQuan (as usual), and the crowns would benefit ZOS as well.

Hmm, I'm surprised I didn't post in that thread.

For real, though, if they sold costume creation tokens in the Crown Store I'd probably burn through most of the Crowns I'm sitting on... Which I think is about 14K, give or take. When new costumes are released in the Crown Store the odds of me buying them are maybe 1 in 3 at best. I like some of them, but the majority of them don't particularly interest me. I would definitely spend way more on tokens to create my own costumes, and it wouldn't prevent me from buying any costumes coming out in the Crown Store that I would buy today anyway.

^ I really like all that token purchase idea, they'd have my money.

I particularly love that I could craft even low level gear and use it as a costume, just for RP/appearances sake.

I guess there would be a PVP contingent that would cite that it's an imbalance, because they can't tell what gear I'm really wearing, but that already exists anyway.

To my mind, I can't think of an MMO that doesn't have some kind of "appearance" feature to modify the look of equipped gear.

I'd love to be able to do this and recently posted about it. It would be great to be able to convert a set of gear to a costume rather than deconstructing it. As someone else pointed out, this could be done with crown store tokens. Or simply a merchant ingame: Visit the merchant, open the window and you have gear slots. Put each piece of gear in a slot that you want a costume made into. Hit the magic button, the gear disappears, and you now have a costume that looks just like it.

This doesn't require any extra graphics in the game as those graphics are still there.

The great thing about the token idea is that it's an incentive for them to actually do it. If it's free, there is no incentive as costumes can be purchased in the crown store, which means that implementing this idea as free would take away income.

I'm positive the disguises-as-costumes Quest Reward idea is somewhere in discussion at ZOS. We've mentioned it many times before, and nearly all of the disguises already have costume icons ready in the data files. Since the disguises don't have their own icons, the only reason for this must be that there has been a plan to add them as costumes at some point.

We've been begging for the disguises you pick up during quests to be converted to costumes as part of the quest reward for ages. But you see, we wouldn't have to pay actual money for that. So the request has been ignored.

I was sad that these were not included. Not sure why we have to continue asking for every little thing

Also the ask was for the disguises to be added into the same section as costumes after the quest was completed.

The disguises should be quest rewards (becomes a costume so it can no longer be used as a disguise). I hate it when I end up accidentally destroying the disguise just because I entered combat!

Good to know, thanks @Enodoc !
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Nothing to add but my support for the idea of converting the current disguises into toggleable costumes. Especially now that since the Crown Store launched, disguises are no longer quick-slottable.

    Good. Welcome back.
We Khajiit live and fight together, and our struggles will not end very soon, likely not in our lifetimes. In the time we have, we do not want our closest comrades to be dour, dull, colorless, sober, and virginal. If we did, we would have joined the Thalmor.

I agree that it would be great to have disguises as costumes so that we don't accidentally use them.... but I'm torn about this also because I like that disguises currently hide vampirism. Costumes do not. So with the way things are currently, I wouldn't want disguises to change.

I do absolutely love that token idea though! There are a lot of lower level armor sets that look really nice, but 90% of high level armor is absolutely awful. The idea of being able to make a lower level set into a costume is something I would totally put money into. I also really like the look of some of the stolen clothing items, but they are useless because they take an armor slot. But this would solve that also.

They don't need to sell anything, except perhaps new dye stamps.

The only variable needed is that you can't run a new character through a quest with a modified disguise unless you remove the dye modification first. If you run with a dyed disguise, you'll get a warning that you're not hidden.

Kollopi and Shadowsilk would be polymorphs.

    Great idea OP.
Unfortunately, i have suspision that if this was implemented it would end up in crown crates rather than the store.
I worrying trend seems to emerging whereby the best stuff goes into crates. The datamined stuff for june looks to be the same. An unfortunate trend and one that will ultimately undermine the loyalty from many players in the community!

we're gonna need to get the pitchforks and torches out and come at ZOS on the crates so that things are more evenly distributed.
