ETA Maint?

Welcome to this new refreshing thread where i ask if there is an ETA on todays maintenance,
is there any ?
And if not,do we have an ETA on getting an ETA ?

Because if something happens that causes a delay there would be a massive amount of crying and saltiness for the delay.

I do indeed. But if they give an estimate of 4 hours and then something goes wrong and the time is extended to 8 hours, people will complain because it will appear they said that it would take 4 hours when they said it would could take 4 hours.

If they think it will be four hours then they have to factor in *** and coffee breaks (oops, for the non-English speakers, *** means cigarette...), which will push it up to 6 hours.

If it's going to take 6 hours then they have to factor in a 2 hour break for lunch. So it will now take 8 hours...

If it takes 8 hours then they have to factor in more coffee breaks and a snooze after lunch. So it will now take 10 hours.

If it takes 10 hours then they have to factor in more coffee, more meal breaks, a lot more sleep and a change in shift...

It will now take 15 hours.

No, actually it will spill over into the next day, and we start all over again.

Which is why four hours of downtime result in three days without a proper service until it's finished

I'm on leave atm so I have more time to play ESO, and for the first time, I'm noticing that the servers seem to be offline for various reasons rather often.

Is Monday a regular maintenance day? I thought it was Wednesday . . .

And is it just me, or are the EU servers really offline far more often than one would expect for an MMO?

Monday is the regular maintenance day. Last week the EU servers had some issues so were down more than expected but it seems there are other issues with the EU servers as it seems to happen every month or so where there is extra maintenance in the data centre. Not sure but I think @ZOS_KaiSchober might have an idea why that is

IF they would just use about 20 minutes to make a Developers page here, where it shows graphs, eta, and make a mandatory limit of 8-12 hours. A lot of these posts wouldn't exist.

I am not fond of the way Blizzard turned out Warcraft, but at least they have a mandatory eta, and posted an hour ahead if something went completely wrong. I'd rather wait 8 hours if they got done in 4 than to sit there and it be delayed of here say every hour, that's all I am saying. I'd take patience over false expectation any day.

Look I am hardcore. I woke up at 2am made coffee and was ready to max my heart out on crafting today. Alas, I find they did make the change to Mondays. I mean, why not put it all in one place instead scattered over forum after forum? Would someone be out of a job? Is that so much to ask?

I suggest a dedicated interactive page merged from everything about development and maintenance. Well, atleast to keep this headache from escalating month after month after month.

Monday is the regular mainty day indeed.
The EU server has had some isssues indeed recently,
and as far as i know the NA server also had some issues a few weeks back.

I think we should orginize some ESObet for how long the maint will last. The winner should get some rewards too (gold, crowns, mats, motifs etc.). Cmon people

As a start point for what has now become a regular post each week (note when the American holiday was on the Monday no maintenance lol),
and which seem's to be a source of amusement for a lot of people (which is good) I wonder if ZoS would offer a prize to the most entertaining post here each time ( must be non-racist,sexist and keep the language clean lol)
If you find a post entertaining hit one of the buttons to say so,
and as we all know it's going to be a fair while before the servers are back up and this time we have the fun of sorting all our points out as well.
Would be a nice Gesture on ZoS part to do something like that (not gonna happen), and will generate a little good will for them lol.

possible prizes a month's ESO plus membership , or a few thousand of crowns wont cost em much but would help the mood of their customers .

Anyway Back to watching paint dry as I wait

I don't understand why they even need to bring the servers down, take a look at GW2, servers NEVER come down for maintenance. Something about 2 different instances, only time they do is when a patch screws something so bad they need to roll back.

Congratulations, you found a maintenance notice from three years ago and successfully challenged the inclusion of "never" in the original posts. Now take a look at that forum section again, count maintenance notices from 2016 and see how many resulted in the servers going down for all players. Bonus points for every time the estimated length of a scheduled maintenance is given.

Damn it! Every time I have a day off and wake up early to play it is maint time. Sometimes is on mondays, sometimes is on tuesdays... On the maintenance schedule forums there isn't a post about it... I don't get it.

Maintenance times are always posted at the top of the forums on Sundays. It's the yellow banner. You can't miss it.

Except when it's unplanned maintenance and the server is unavailable 3-4 mornings out of a 7 day week.

True. But usual maintenance times are up there. And if something does happen, they add a red banner.
