Motifs, crafted sets and looted sets.

So with every DLC etc there are new motifs, new looted sets and whatnot. There are a few issues with this system imo.

1. Crafted sets are mostly outdated by now, a few exceptions tho, but for the most part and thats specially true after next patch the crafted sets will be far away from the power level of the dropped or looted sets that you can get.
2. New motifs basicly only apply to your crafted set, unless youre lucky enough that one of the sets you wanna use are dropped in content you want to do and has the motif you really, really like.
3. If you want to use a specific dropped set, but the motif it drops in are really ugly or it doesnt fit with the rest of your equipment youre pretty much up *** creek here.

This leaves us with alot of ifs and buts and makes new motifs etc have 2 sides of the coin, yea they look great, but i cant really make my character look good anyway if i want to use specific sets for my build.

Thats why I really, really hope ZOS lets us change the appearance of an item using either an excisting item wich then will "adopt" the look of said item, or plainly just use the crafting station to spend one desired style item to permanently change the look/motif of said item.

Hope something like this comes in the future, hell id even use the crown store to achieve this. Agree?

Well, dropped sets are usually found in a motif that fits them, lorewise, don't they?
    My characters:
Main and crafter: A Breton magicka templar named Erwann Sorril
Alt 1: A Bosmer sorcerer named Tuuneleg
Alt 2: An Imperial dragonknight named Gaius Tullius Hastifer
    Alt 3: An Argonian vampire/nightblade named Observe-le-Xanmeer
Alt 4: A Nord werewolf/dragonknight named Sigurd Hurlevent
Alt 5: A Breton sorcerer named Gilian Sorril (he's Erwann's younger brother)
    Alt 6: A Khajiit nightblade named Jolan-dar
Alt 7: A Nord warden named Sigurmar Hurlevent (he's Sigurd's younger brother)
Alt 8: An Altmer templar named Oioriel
Alt 9: An Argonian stamina Warden named Danse-avec-les-Rainettes
Alt 10: A Redguard templar named Neemokh af-Corelanya
Alt 11: A Nord stamina sorcerer named Olga Écoute-Vent
Alt 12: A Breton magicka Warden named Ian Sorril
Alt 13: A Dunmer magicka necromancer named Ilmoran Dren
Alt 14: An Orc stamina necromancer named Norgol gro-Borziel
Alt 15: A Nord magicka necromancer named Thorgen Givresang
Alt 16: An Imperial magicka dragonknight named Publius Valeirus Hastifer (Just call him "Valerio" - he's Gaius younger troublemaker of a brother)
Main in NA (For collaborative events): A Breton magicka nightblade named Titouan Sorril (long-lost brother of Erwann and Gilian)

It used to crack me up wearing the rarer sets which more often than not came in a motif that you'd rarely see anyone wear. Well, anyone not in their knee-britches noobie stage.

My argonian wearing Elf Bane which is actually in the old argonian style but since it only came in very specific pieces (maul, chest, etc.) I'd always be wearing that crazy overturned cauldron hat of that particular motif. Before hide your helmet became a thing people would stop and stare... even enemies in PvP. I imagine Buckethead gets that a lot.

Also, Sentry armor had those anti-tank looking armor knobs all over it.

Almost NO ONE ever wore anything from the Immortal Warrior set, despite it looking amazing. The Trials weapon/jewelry sets have those wonderful light and sound effects. The Defending Warrior mace/shield combo, in particular, has an amazing effect when you "unsheathe" your arms despite the magic pulse caused when blocking an attack provides a mere tickle of damage against your opponents.

Wearing ugly old-style orcish Fiord's Legacy in PvP to zoom faster on long trips (using Wykkyd's of course) made you look especially ridiculous.

I think it's rather touching that there'll be a legitimate reason to wear some of these hideous old sets. Khajiit hats with little kitty ear flaps.

It occurs to me that the "uniqueness" of the boss mob drop's unique pieces will be entirely lost on the people who will now collect them as set pieces of regular zone-based sets now, as the "unique" bit was (almost) never the actual style of the item, but only the color palette. Which was actually noticeable back before there was armor dying.

I wonder if Voljar's crescent dagger, which really is freaking wicked looking, will get membership in a Set? That's be awesome.

... or just restore the bonuses that crafted sets used to have. Thus making the sets that you can easily customize less outdated.

If motif-shifting did become a thing, I would suggest that it required a significant quantity of materials and, quite possibly, a time requirement too.

Wich would be cool, if I didnt find the imp motif to look atrocious.

Bah stupid phone. I think yes crafters should be able to change the style as well as change the trait as I said here...

    No you can't.

Not monster sets, not dropped sets. Pretty much only dropped common items and crafted items.
