How do you change nameplates to character names in PC gamepad mode?

In gamepad mode on my main character, nameplates show up as just the character name. I started a new character and the nameplates show up as the @userid names. I just cannot remember how I changed it on my main to character names and I can't find any relevant setting under nameplates. I have the nameplate settings identical on both characters. I'm hoping I'm just missing something obvious.
*Also, in keyboard mode on both chars the nameplates show up as character names.

If it's anything like consoles it's in Options -> Interface

My bad, I was looking under the esc menu settings, it's under start menu>options>interface. Thanks for the replies guys
*I always use the esc menu to change things, so it just didn't occur to me.

If I remember it's either on the start character page under setting's then graphic's [ somewhere it allows you to choose what's displayed on the active screen your using, or once your into the character hit the Esc key and then setting's as before.
haven't done it for a few week's so give it a try
hopefully that will allow you to set it as you need it.
but am not 100% sure, but least it wont make it any harder.

The character screen video settings are only the basic display/graphics settings that show up in game also. Under interface settings the only relevant option is Display Name (Keyboard), which was already set to "Prefer character name" - but there's no gamepad option.
