Free gold...

So yesterday in Rawlka on Xbox one NA someone was giving out ALOT of Gold. Im not going to lie I got 500k from him and there was maybe 30+ people that were there in a line where the bridge is. But I don't know, me and some buddy's where talking about this and it just seemed fishy... Why would anyone give out that much gold. Could this get us banned if they used some kind of exploit to get the gold? Idk just seems wierd to me.

Chances are they are either

leaving the game

OR

someone gained access to their account somehow

it is not beyond the realm of possibilities that they cheated/exploited to get the money, but regarding you getting in trouble i doubt it, but if you are concerned, dont spend any of the money for a while & if repurcussions occur from zenimax appologise & ask them to delete the funds from your bank.

I remember couple of months ago there was a give away in one of the biggest trader guilds eu server, guy who did the give away was quitting the game and one of his goals was gain so much items and gold in game and he just asked some question randomly in guild chat about elder scrolls and gave ppl millions worth items,500 kutas,gold,really rare old items etc. So probally he just quit the game.

Ah there is the important distinction between the gold that is free - and suspicious - and the unwanted or unloved things contained in pockets and wardrobes that khajiit she helps to rehome as a public service.

I have done this on every game I have played. I would give away everything not bound to my toon and give it out to people normally I would do some kind of region based game where I would hide somewhere and have people find me and first person gets the most rare thing and goes down the line till its just general but useful items. That way I couldn't come back if I wanted to because I would have to regain all those items again haha

Exactly I've done the same in past MMO's to make sure I didn't come back easily. I would breakdown all armor to mats, and sell everything on all toons, and give away everything to a level 1 newbie or my Guild Master then I'd start deleting toons.

After that I'm not coming back and starting all over again..

When I quit UO (Ultima Online) I had amassed riches for 15 years of playing basicly everyday. I gave it all away to friends, strangers and guilds. It was a substantial amount of gold and valuables. That game has no bound on equip/pickup.

What a strange thing to do.

When I stop playing a game, I just ... stop.

Occasionally, I'll go back and check things out a year or two down the road, but at that point I can no longer remember anything useful about the game, so it almost feels like walking through a museum or something.

I have a feeling whoever it was, was freed from their slavery. On their way out, they must've taken that master's Gold from their stores.

Then proceeded to prance merrily around Rawhlka throwing handfuls of it around the entire town.
