Client does not see Addons on a different HDD

Location of client:
E:\Games\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client

Location of Addons:
H:\Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns

The addons are located on a network share in the server room - yes, this is at work, and
yes, they are OK with that. Minion happily installs the addons, and the ESO client
happily ignores them because they are not in the "standard" location.

This H: location is the default place for \Documents for my login, which is why the
addons are there. Is there any way to config the client to see this location? Or some
other solution? I see problems like this going way back, with no real solutions I could find.

Thanks for reading down to here.

The problem is, My Documents on a shared drive does not work like it does on a local drive. And, you probably still have a My Documents folder structure on the local drive, which might be confusing to the game. It might also require a policy upgrade/rework to make the remote My Documents work, but good luck getting IT to do that for you (they hate one offs in the network).

Have you tried installing the addons (do one manually) in the My Documents on the local drive? Does it show up in the game?

    Thanks for the reply.

I had tried to copy the files here:
    C:\Users\[login]\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns

but it made no difference. It would be nice - since apparently devs are working on a
new client - to have a more configurable client, to allow it to point to different folders
for resources. May not be possible, but it would be nice. :^)

One thing I have noticed about games and modern versions of windows, is sometimes the game needs to create the folder so it has the permissions needed to access it. However, as you are probably figuring out, it is going to be a lot of fun to suss this one out.

On a side note, I have the same type of thing at my work, a remote shared drive that has My Documents on it, and Windows defaults to My Documents for initially storing files, however, My Docs can not be accessed from my desk. So, in other words, I lose stuff all the time....

... that is why whenever I can I reset the default directories to something I've made on the Desktop. Stuff like Downloads and so on.

Thank you about the point regarding the executable needing to make the folder. However, ESO nicely allows you to move it to pretty much anywhere you like, so it seems fairly agnostic that way. I suppose <gulp> I could uninstall the game and keep track of where the default "live" folder is placed.

Well, I don't play a lot at work anyway, so it is not a huge issue. Thanks again.
