Build Challenge! Magicka Sorc Vampire

One of the fun parts of ESO, for me, is getting to see the variety of builds out there. It's fun to challenge oneself to make themed builds. Sure, they'll never be the absolute best out there, but after looking at the new armor sets coming out and seeing the Vampire Lord set, I got to thinking... What would a Magicka Sorcerer look like if it's entire build was centered around vampire abilities? Which brings us to this challenge...

Challenge - Build a magicka sorcerer with the three vampire abilities as core parts of it's build.

Rules of the challenge.

It MUST be a magicka sorceror build.
It must include at least 5/5 of one of the following sets - Vampire's Kiss, Song of Lamae, Vampire Lord (the new set being released with Update 12)
So long as you can justify that the vampire abilities are core to the build, and//or the entirety of the build fits thematically with vampirism, you meet this challenge.

Mist form and bat swarm I can get on board with but I would just be wasting a slot with the essence skill.

This build focuses on PvE dungeons. Your main attacks will be stacking DoTs for each boss fight and add pulls. Activate Boundless Storm, then Liquid Lightning, and Wall of Elements animation cancel into a Destructive Touch, then start using Invigorating Drain because it will your main DPS ability which will allow you to build ultimate REALLY fast. 5 ultimate per second on top of the 27 ultimate you get from doing a Light Attack, Medium Attack, or Heavy Attack. At maximum ultimate, you will rain down your children (Devouring Swarm) onto your foes. Reapply DoTs, and repeat the process.

Used to be fun in pvp. Proxy det up, batswarm then streak into crowds of people. Ward up and get out safely when batswarm is over.

Ohhh I like this..... I'm a diehard Magic Sorcerer. I'll write up a Vampire Magic Sorc build. Just so you know, the most limiting part of this setup was that I was forced to invest out of shields and much more into raw mitigation, Max Health, and healing in order to make Invigorating Drain worth the slot.

Shoulders: Troll King (Heavy), Impenetrable, Max Magicka
Chest: Armor of the Trainee, Infused, Tri-Stat
Hands: Armor of the Trainee, Impenetrable, Max Magicka
Belt: Armor of the Trainee, Impenetrable, Max Magicka
Pants: Armor of the Trainee, Infused, Tri-Stat/i]
Shoes: Armor of the Trainee, Impenetrable, Max Magicka

- This build is meant for solo survivability in PvP. Magic Sorcs are supposed to shieldstack, but this build instead utilizes Heavy Armor, 1H&S, Impen, and higher than normal Health so it can use heals instead.
- It fights similar to Dual Wield Magic Sorcs, except this build does not rely on bar swapping to cast shields/burn Magic for survivability. Hardened Ward is there so it can be cast before casting Elusive Mist. You gain incredible survivability this way. Streak is also very helpful in these situations.
- Rapid Regen and Power Surge provides a nice HoT thanks to Entropy DoT, along with your Invigorating Drain and Devouring Swarm. Troll King helps a lot as well.
- Your burst comes from Frags+Curse+Entropy Empowerment. When you need health, Invigorating Drain gives a massive heal, and is easy to cast without interruption with you CC the enemy with Frags or Streak.
- Highest burst comes from Curse+Endless Fury+Devouring Swarm+Entropy+Procced Crystal Frag. Will kill most opponents if timed timed and empowered by the Heavy Armor damage passive (Wrath).

Just a quick build I thought of that should work fairly well. main downside is it'll most likely need to be all Legendary (besides Jewelry) to really shine1

White Lightning - Magic Sorc Vampire - PVP or PVE

Race: I play as a khajiit, so race isn't a major thing.
Mundus stone: Apprentice

CP Focus at 531 CP: Theif - 100 Magician, 20 Warlord, 57 Arcanist; Mage - 100 Elemental Expert, 77 Thaumaturge; Warrior - 77 Resistant, 100 Bastion
Vampire Stage 4

Armor: 5 Julianos-4 armor 1 staff; 5 Vampire Lord - 3 jewelry 2 armor; 1 Kena shoulder; All armor divines, destro staves sharpened, resto staff powered, jewelry arcane with Spell Damage enchants. Armor 1 healh on big piece, magicka on rest

PVP 1v1

First bar - Sharpened Julianos Fire Staff - Lightning enchant:
1. Endless Fury (magicka return and execute)

Ultimate: Devouring Swarm (With Vampire Lord, Vampirism stage 4, and Power Stone passive, relatively cheap and a life saver)

Ultimate: Meteor, Devouring Swarm, or Anything else

Devouring Swarm will be the main Ultimate used. Being cheap on this build means you can pop it a lot and save your skin.

Hmm I'm not sure troll King is the best option as a vampire? Isn't it a bit counter intuitive?

Sorc doesn't gel too well with the vampirism active skills, there's no close range damage skills - magicka NB on the other hand works great with them. Here is my imagined take on the Sorcvamp:

PVP magicka light armour sorc no shields vampire build:
Dual wield:
1 Boundless storm
2 Invigorating drain
3 Crystal frags
4 Daedric minefield
5 Bound aegis
U Devouring swarm

Sword & shield:
1 Velocious curse
2 Baleful mist
3 Dark deal
4 Defensive rune
5 Bound aegis
U Overload (for more buffs on extra bar)

Overload:
1 Power surge
etc.

Gear:
5 Vampire lord
2 Valkyn skoria
5 Alteration mastery (dual wield main bar, sword & shield off bar)

Gameplay loop is something like:
Keep up Power surge and Defensive rune. When you spot a target, you hit them with Velocious curse at very close range. They’ll respond and attack you, getting caught by the Defensive rune. You need to get immediately on top of them and cast Minefield (make sure they are perfectly in the center so the mines don’t pop), Boundless storm and Invigorating drain. The Defensive rune breaks on first tick of Boundless, so cancel the Invigorating after the first tick. Hopefully frags have procced - throw frags, and maybe you get a lucky Skoria proc too.

If they don’t die, you hit Batswarm and Baleful mist and get ready to redo the rotation. Use Dark deal -> Defensive rune for healing when Batswarm isn’t up (although it’ll be up a lot with all the ulti cost reduction).

I'm running a no shields magicka sorc 5 light PVP build on the no CP campaign and having a bit of fun with it. Doesn't hinge quite so much on these cludgy vamp mechanics though.

Wow! This has been fun to read! You all are rather clever to have come up with such interesting and, well, actually diverse among each other builds while adhering to the parameters set for this challenge! I like the mixture of both PvE and PvP builds.

Oh dear... It is difficult to choose one I like best! It will be exciting to try these out.

I will examine these in more detail tomorrow, and whichever one I like best after further examination will be declared the winner!

Defense rune etc is cool.

But Im a huge advocate of rune cage (prison?) The one that doesn't break on DoTs.

Wouldn't it combo very well with devouring swarm, boundless, and even drain essence move? None of those should break the cage and deal really decent damage?

It's a ranged hard CC, if used correctly (remember to NOT weave light attacks, harder done than said lol) it can mean GG against any build that can't consistently CC break. So builds like mag sorcs... lol
