Change gear style?

Is there a way to change the style of gear without changing the gear itself? If I have a good gear set that dropped in a dungeon but I don't like the way it looks, can I change it to ancient elf style if I have that motif? If not, will this ever be implemented?

Unfortunately, no such system is [currently] in place. The crafting community has been strongly advocating for this for a long time, but we have received no support from the devs. If anything, it might be something that we could see along with the housing DLC scheduled for Q1 of 2017.

    No ETA.

    Would be nice though.

I really hope they allow something like this soon. With every new update they are adding new motifs, but when you already have gold gear it's not feasible to make a new set just to change styles. I would love to be able to have some sort of style change stone.

@Annalyse Not to mention that all the new sets next update have jewelry but crafted gear does not. It's more likely that your build will involve 1 or 2 of those drops sets, forcing you to wear the style of armor that the set is in.

Worse so, many of them are Breton style, the default style before a style is given to them, in the PTS. No dev feedback has been said about that being changed before it goes live.

That's part of the reason why costumes (and their in game counterpart, disguises) still remain so popular. Unfortunately, much like the idea of being able to repair our own gear without repair kits (even as master blacksmiths/tailors) this idea has seemingly been brushed aside and ignored fervently by the devs.

We really really need this, the mats for crafting are getting so expensive, there is no way I could craft a new set just to change the look.

If it even took like 1/3 as much material, cause obviously if you change the shape of something you would need more material to fix it. I would love this too. Sometimes I just get tired of one set of armor.

They probably did that on purpose to lure people into buying costumes so I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you.

Would be cool if they have some kind of "Reforge" option for crafting that can change gears style. Would cost materials and the new style mat as well, but keep the same item

Make it an ESO Plus perk and make it require a certain amount of gold per item AND require the motif be known. I'm just tired of having so many sets that don't look quite right because of one mismatching piece.

It would be a great idea! Unfortunately it's still not available:/

I wouldn't even mind buying costumes if they had them in multiple motif styles, but currently there are very few costume choices and they aren't anything I find appealing. And dyeing them (without a sub) is ridiculous because the dye sets are all so ugly... metal armor parts turn out purple or yellow in most of them. They need some more neutral sets.

I also wish there was a way to choose a level style of gear and keep it.... the higher level gear is so ugly, but there were a lot of basic styles that I quite liked at the lower levels.
