✭✭✭✭✭It can be done, but I think you kind of need a good reason. I know someone that actually got a character name changed (before it was available for purchase), by RP'ing with costumer service.0 -
Marque✭✭I was able to have my in game @ name changed just before dark brotherhood, reason being that it previously too closely resembled my actual surname, and I didn't want the broader public to see it, and it was no hassle to change it and was done in a day or two. If you go through support I believe there are steps listed to get it changed currently.0 -
KhajiitiLizard✭✭✭✭✭@name can be changed without violating ToS... it was character name that couldn't be changed, mostly. I have changed a character's name without violating anything, but that was back when ZOS actually had decent CS.0 -

You used to be able to submit a ticket and get it changed, but no longer. ✭✭✭✭✭I got my @name changed, but this was a while ago. Last February, maybe March.
It was the name of my main, and it started to bother me that people on guild chat would call me by my main character's name when I was playing other characters. Support solved it in just a few hours, and all the time they kept apologizing for it not being something that I could do on my own. I really can't complain.Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.
Meet my characters:Command: Do the thing.
Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.1 -

they added a new policy of UserID. They don't allow it anymore per 11th August 2016 https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6894/kw/userid
They still do able to change it if your Userid violates TOS. I'm curious now, though. What if the name a character from a novel or a movie? Say, David Copperfield or Ramsay Bolton. Does that violate the ToS?
