Is there any rhyme or reason to when/where this might drop...

I've been looting hard for a year now, no luck - thought I heard they may be a little more frequent in banks(?)...

trying not to have to put 100k together to buy it...don't want it from the crown store...

P.S. It does note that not EVERYTHING can be converted and that the conversion is permanent.

Can you buy it for 100k? That is cheaper than the last time I saw it for sale on PS4 NA.

No rhyme or reason, I don't go around stealing but found mine after about 9 months in a chest near a mini boss in Shadowfen.

On PC-NA I usually see them for 40k-60k. But I've never found one myself (playing 9 months now and search EVERYTHING).

I found 2. Once looting a nightstand in Cadwell's Silver Glenumbra and once on a level 11 AD character in Silsalen. Seems like it is completely random.

It should drop in both Vet and non-Vet zones, but it is very rare. I only found it once, and that was when I got fed up with not having found it and farmed for it until I got it.

I've only ever found it once, and it was inside a dresser in Sanctum Ophidia - a short while after someone else in the group found one in a chest! I don't believe the drop rate is higher there than anywhere else, it was just amazing RNG that day.

There's no real trick to it - it's a rare random drop, so you've just got to loot everything and hope for the best. I hope you find one!

that is exactly what I believe will happen...I want to start an imperial character before the end of the year - i enjoy gearing the different characters in their racial motifs...we'll see - the lowest price I saw today ps4/na was around 150k...but, I wasn't looking too hard...

at least with the crafting bags now it's easier to just grab everything...

I have found 3/4 since game launch on PC, first one was in Auridon Vulkhel Guard bank (this is in the days when you could farm for motifs etc by looting everything in sight with no penalties)

One was near DC base in IC, and the other one was a wee while ago on a lowbie in Glenumbra.

Found 2 on lowbies, so for me anyways, its easier to find on lowbie chars in the most unlikely of places:}

Going for around 60/70K or so, on PC EU.

MIss the old days when they were really expensive:}

When you make an Imperial character (actually when you purchase the Imperial edition to gain access to the character) you'll also gain the ability to convert armor/weapon styles to Imperial. If this is the purpose of seeking the motif, don't bother buying it at all!

i have actually found 4!

2 during console launch learned the 1, gave the other to a friend... yes GAVE! i had no idea they were worth big bucks, so i just gave it to him & he proptly learned it & we made ourself some level 10 gear (no trait, no set, but it looked pretty)

i have found 2 recently one i sold to a friend for a low price, and one i listed in a trader for a 150k it sold in muinites

For me one of the rarest drops in this game, I got it one time a year of playing eso and still keep in my bank just in case to remind myself how rare it is and to make my eyes happy . I won't sell or read such treasure .

I'm still gonna loot every bank and castle like crazy until I find one (for some reason I have the notion stuck in my mind that's where I'm gonna find it, irrational and weird, but oh well)...

I found one yesterday morning on a new alt - was rescuing Lyris from Cold Harbor and it was in a random trunk. Listed it for 100k (PC-EU - check Mournhold traders ) still there as far as I'm aware. May be a bit over-priced, unsure.

Well done on finding one btw, but prices on PC EU are around 50/80K, found one not long ago and got a very fast sale for 70K, and this is data from some of the best trader guilds in EU.

One of the rarest and apparently most overpriced (without real reason) motifs in game, when it comes to evaluate the appearance - Imperial shows nothing special .

Found my first one in the Rosy Lion in Daggerfall in a cabinet (over a year ago)

Found the second in a container during an Undaunted run (don't recall where I was) a couple weeks ago.

Just to make sure I have his right - they can be found on npc's, inside of chests, urns - I'm guessing then also crates and barrels?

other than gearing up my character with their native motif - the attraction for the imperial motif is that it reminds me of the Roman legionaire armor...being a military minded guy - i was always fascinated with the Romans and their military...

however, after watching the History channels recent series Rise of the Barbarians that's dulled their shine a bit for me...never really thought before about the fact they were some next level slavers who were experts in the exploitation of others...

I guess when we get older we all have to look at our childhood heroes a little more closely to get a more complete picture...

the guild recruitment section is at the bottom of the forum page...

I personally looked for the guilds which have the same stalls week after week in the major trading cities...closet to the way shrine is also a big plus...

for ps4/na that's Back Alley Trading, Aldemeri Nation, The Purple Gang, Open Source Solutions, Spicy Burrito, Banana Surprise, Mourn hold Mafia and a bunch of others - i do a lot of shopping

Hehe well I hope you sell for 100k too haha, but going by current pricing, I doubt it, yeah haha done that with one imp motif i found too.

Harrods and Tamriel Traders are almost always looking for people, same with Travelling Merchant.

You must go outside, flap your arms, while shouting to the gods that you will serve them forever

(you might get rained on, they get confused sometimes, but keep at it..:}

Finally I sold mine, for 64k gold in guild trader Rawl'kha.... decided that I will never craft in that style so arrivederci imperial .
