I just mad a new character and have defeated the child of bones, I went into the menu to equip my fabulous new necklace and now I'm getting a constant UI error screen loop.

✭✭✭✭✭Doesn't sound good. Can you get to Help to use 'get me unstuck'?
If not log in an alt, use help > customer services and ask for your character name to be u stuck they might be able to do it.
