Discussion on Physical/Spell resistances...again.

So riddle me this folks... We have beat this to death in the past as I'm well aware, but still a question remains...

So I run a tank, unbuffed my resistances are +/- the cap of 33.5K for arguements sake. Now comes the question... I've been told by a very knowledgable associate of mine, one who has yet to fail me on ESO mechanics knowledge, that the Armor Master passive bump bypasses the cap. So say I have 36K unbuffed, I'm essentially wasting 2.5k worth of champion points or what have you. However, according to him, with my resistances at cap, the extra however much I get from armor master is not wasted since it's an extra passive boost. Is he correct or have I really wasted the better part of 10K worth of resistance champion points and such?

Armor master increases your existing physical and spell resistance, and do not act as an extra mitigation layer (such as Minor and Major Protection for instance). As such, If you're already at the cap, Armor master does nothing more than give you the extra health.

Do you use immovable as Armor skill ability to proc the Armor Master Resistance bonus ?
    If so
You can use Evasion instead, and you end up 3k below the cap, but you get roughly 20% damage and block cost reduction back.

Can you just respec champion points to lower your resists to the cap?

Yeah using immovable, but Evasion isn't a bad shout at all... Had been running 5 hist/4SOL up until armor master, would be essentially the same. Could respec CP as well, would have to check which CP Passives would suffer though. Certainly appreciate the input gents/ladies, thinking evasion will be the answer as to not be a complete idiot and go bankrupt again making a new yellow 160 gear combo. Cheers!
