Infallible Aether set, working as intended?

Fulgentius
Fulgentius
Soul Shriven
The Infallible Aether is a very attractive set for magicka users and particularly for healers. Light armour, increases spell crit and spell damage, but the unique power of enemies damaged by heavy attacks lose 10% physical and spell resistance is fantastic. It affords a massive increase in damage for the whole party. The equipment's description says this effect on enemies occurs "with fully charged heavy attacks" but it also occurs on the first tick of a restoration staff's use.

Is this working as intended, that healers can gear up with this, and just by healing can afford a debuff on bosses/mobs to increase the whole party's damage? Or is the set going to be reworked to just afford this bonus on heavy attacks?

Well first, it doesn't do anything to decrease the resistances at all. The 5 piece set bonus provides the Minor Vulnerability debuff that causes the target to take 8% more damage from all attacks for 10 seconds (which is huge). On lightning and restoration staves' heavy attacks the effect procs on the first tick because they are channeled attacks. It does not work on restoration staff abilities so you still have to do a heavy restoration staff attack to proc this effect, even if you don't fully charge the attack.
    Its working as intended.

I think, it's not working as intended as you need to fully charge your restro heavies to proc Minor Mending but AE procs on the first tick inspite having same mechanics. But, this is one bug I like as it gives me more DPS.

Both channeled heavy attack types activate the set on their first tick. Yes, healers can run it as an easy support buff to their party. The other bonuses point more towards a damage dealer wearing it though, so it's a good idea to have an alternate set to swap out to, if one of your buddies wants it for their main set. Gossamer and Worm Cult are decent replacements with identical itemization.

A build I really want to try but I can not as I don't have a Vma sharpened lightning staff.

    Vma staff
    5 elegant
    5 infal

    Dk with 40%dmg heavy.

I was thinking of using a sharpened elegant staff w 1 piece molag kena.

What are the numbers like? In theory it should be very high dmg and it's AOE too.

I got a 76k heavy attack the other day with that build. My staff is precise though. I think 5 aether + 5 sergeant's mail will give you the strongest attack but RNG hasn't let me try this out yet.

The mephalas set also procs on the first tick of a resto staff heavy attack. It used to never work but they fixed it so all channeled staff attack ticks count as separate heavy attacks.
