Suggestion to reset armor style

Problem: When we reach CP 160 and craft our gear, we chose a style (or many styles....i myself like to set my armor to be full in one single style). So, we spend a lot of gold, mats, runes and upgraders to reach legendary gear. Once we reach it, we should be happy....but when we continually play the game, eventually we will get rarer motifs and styles, (sometimes it won't take more than a week after you craft your gear and boom, you get a new rarer style that force you to think "oh...damn, i would look pretty cool in that"). I couldn't help myself and destroyed plenty of legendary gear so i could look better, and downgrade myself to epic gear, after running out of legendary upgraders and kutas. I know that sounds silly but damn....i would look more unique in that so i can't help myself sometimes. So, i would like to be more free in trying different styles 'til i get tired of them, without being punished so hard.

Solution: At the crafting station, add a new tab that allows you to reset a crafted piece in a different style. That would cost:
- Less materials than if we were to craft the piece from the scratch, like 20% of the original mat cost
- it will keep the quality of the piece: it would remain Legendary, for example
- It would take one style gem
- The enchantment remains as well

so, what u think??

I would like to see the ability to restyle an item.

Overall, I like your proposal. The 20% might be a tad low, I personally was thinking something in the range of 50-75% of the refined materials to keep it from being commonplace (even in reality it would take a lot of new material to fully change an item's style without losing quality) but keeping the item's enchantment and the item's quality are the two essential keys to such a system functioning in my opinion.

P.S. Of course, the real question is, what will ESO staff think? @ZOS_GinaBruno

Is Uncle John's band calling you? Do you daydream about Sugar Magnolias? Is your favorite sunflower a China Cat? Tired of Truckin' alone to Terrapin Station? If so, share some Space with other hippies & deadheads in the guild Sunshine Daydream! Send a message in game (PC-NA) to Kaibeth for your invitation.

yeh, i agree that 20% is a bit low, i think 50% is a good rate for the amount of refined materials that would take, and it would work better for low level gear than a rate of 20% (i guess in the early levels it takes like 6 or 8 refined materials to craft a piece, so 50% would work better with that than 20%...). I think 75% is a bit too much tho for CP160 gear...

Im with you, I cant be using 1000 mats and 100k worth of upgrade mats to get some new gear if I get tired of looking at my current stuff. Even if they did 50% of the original mats I could live with that. People change their minds and styles alot we shouldnt be hit so hard for it.

The ability to restyle gear has been an ongoing request throughout the life of the game, but ZOS hasn't done anything about it. It looks like they're quite happy to have people spend all that time/gold/resources to craft entirely new gear each time they want a new look.

But, I like your proposal in regard to using a crafting station and resources to restyle an item. I assume it was implied, but you would have to already know the style you want to change the gear to, in addition to the appropriate style material, as you mentioned.

Many have suggested that this be a perk for master crafters, i.e. people who have researched all 9 traits on all gear - as a reward for doing all that work, since currently, the only real reward is a paltry few crafted sets that require 9 traits.
