Blocking shield effect?

When we block, with or without a shield, this transparent "shield" image appears in front of us. Is there a way to disable that?

I play without all those kinds of effects (eg. crafting materials in the wild don't glow, I don't choose those skills), because it cuts into my immersion. Yet, this effect remains (as do the thieves troves, which glow blue). I'd love to be able to turn these effects off.

I want to see my sexy shield when i hold it up, not some lame graphics that obscures the shield design.

I'm afraid your only solution is to use a glass shield at this time, as that is the style the image is based on, so the designs will at least match.

I know you can turn off your own nameplate, alliance marker, chat bubble, ect. Maybe we should have an option to disable the visual aids if we don't need or want to use them.
