Let me start by saying that I have nothing but love and adoration for the motifs and styles in ESO, frankly put, I adore them. As of this week I finally finished my set. Merc style light set, it looks great and the stats work like a charm with my build. five of the seven are improved to legendary and the rest are on the way to it... however, there is a problem!

@ZOS_GinaBruno & Co, as you wonderful guys release more motifs and styles into the game, I can honestly say (for me at least) they will be wasted as I won't remake my gear and waste all those hard earned materials on a brand new set. With the gear 160 cap staying as it is for a time now (thank god) it means as you release new motifs I will be learning them and forgetting them with no quick way to change between styles on my armour, like a transmog system or appearance overlay. I could be completely missing something here, but isn't this somewhat counter intuitive for releasing new motifs with no drive to use them?

What does the community think, any thoughts or opinions? Am I wrong, tell me why?

(edit: Spelling... as usual)

Kinda like how if you have imperial edition you can change the motif of any crafted item to imperial. If that's what you are talking about, except extending it to any learned motif (as long as you have the required style item) I wholeheartedly agree. If ZoS implemented a system like that i would be over the moon.

I think master crafters should be able to restyle gear, or create a restyle stone or something that they could sell to others to use to restyle their gear. For instance a master crafter could make an Akaviri restyle stone, sell it and that person could use the stone to change the style of one piece of armor to Akaviri. Add a dropdown on right clicking gear like when you enchant or repair. Just an idea. It would give master crafters a way to make more money and people could customize their look for less cost then making a whole new set.

This is a great idea, restyling! It's unique and original, I love it.

a transmog style set up could be useful, given that some motiff styles change at higher tiers. and you might prefer the lower tier looks.

Definitely agreed, even if they make it something with real-money transactions involved (which would be kind of a *** move in my opinion) this is something that absolutely should be in every game like this, I don't even understand how any game like this doesn't have Transmog as a built-in feature (and one that doesn't cost real money or require a subscription to use). This is a very basic level feature that should be freely available for anyone and should have been in this game from the start.

As a craftier myself I absolutely agree, a "Restyle" system just makes sense in this game, head to a crafting station and with the right skill being able to change its appearance with another motif/style that one has.

I will also add, this would be a great way to use those clothing pieces that you find when thieving, I like many of those simple clothing pieces and they seem wasted just sitting in my bank.

I am not sure it should be a real money thing. If the game was completely F2P yes, but as it stands it is B2P and that would be somewhat of a 'money milk'. But I like the concept of finding some form of restyle item, or perhaps even shards of something that can be refined and used with your current gear. The company needs to make money in reality, and I heavily support this, so perhaps a ESO PLUS feature could be a few of these a month for free, the rest available in the Crown Store?

That is true, but weren't there other ways to earn the transmog token, not just from their store? I think completing missions had a small chance of getting one, a reward chest for completing a zone?

I'd love this! Especially if it made it possible to use low level versions of crafter sets at high levels.

There were, and are, non cash shop ways to get them both before and after they changed the transmutation system. I've been playing for 4 years, changed skins a lot and I've never had to pay for one.

The thing is though that ZOS seems hell-bent on monetizing each and every little thing that they possibly can no matter how much of a *** move it is to do, they don't seem to care about anything at all besides money these days and can't be bothered to do what's actually right for their game and their players. I hope to hell they don't, but the realist in me says they won't even give Transmog a second thought without charging real money for it in some way, doesn't matter how basic a feature it is or that it should be free and available for everyone.

Pretty much this, good idea and easy to understand. It could be done even as "Create a Custom Costume" with different armour pieces and since dying costume is now a thing it's possible to dye it to.

Transmogs? Am I playing a Blizzard game at the moment? Is this D3 or WoW? Lol. But on a serious note, I don't think that would be such a good idea. A regular staff being made into looking like a Maelstrom staff..? Really now? Or a regular bow, made to look like a Master Bow? This would cause drama, due to those who place importance on these pieces when doing gear checks. Bad as it is, Maw sets don't feel special anymore. All because of the motif being exploited and anyone being able to make their gear look like it came from Maw. And now this? No thanks.

I would like to see this thing, but even more than that, I would like to see the old wardrobe system from WoW or Fallen Earth.. The system where you can simply take the look from an item, and paste it on the one you are wearing..

THIS would be perfect. You still have to sink the time and effort into learning the motifs so it doesn't negate the worth of crafters. And would make the motifs themselves even more valuable.

It would only work for craftable motifs so maelstrom would be out of the question. Also the Maw sets aren't exactly the same motif as the craftable counterpart. Iirc the maw sets have a brighter blue glow.

I agree. I want to look cool in this game but too many of the best in slot sets, especially monster sets, look so dumb. We need to look the way we want. Otherwise motifs are kind of pointless. Adding a transmog system will actually improve revenue, as of right now there is no need for motifs other than achievements.
