Solved. But you way freely use poll.

My friends and I were debating if Shareplay was considered Acount Sharing. However. We are deadlocked. We just weren't sure. We just want to start conversation and this is what the topic came to be. I tried to look on ZOS Terms. But unable to find. I probaly looking at wrong place also. Please help us. Thanks. Also our internet is very bad so were unable to shareplay anyways. But we believe this is good topic.

Edited the title. Added PS4

They are playing your toon which is on your account, so yes. If they are playing on a toon on your account that is in fact account sharing.

No I don't think so , it wouldn't make sense

Share play is basically passing the controller to somebody , it a very gray area but the way it works I don't think it falls under account sharing

This is taken from playstation site

"Play your favourite games together*1 with your PSN friends wherever they are in the world*2 whether they own a copy of the game*3 or not.

Share Play lets any friend who owns a PS4 console join you on a virtual sofa. Let them watch you play your favourite titles or experience the action for themselves, or jump into a local multiplayer game and play together – all with a press of the SHARE button."

It's a bit of an odd situation really. Technically I think Account Sharing is based on two different people knowing the login details for one account. Since SharePlay does not involve disclosure of login details (I assume?), it's not really account sharing. And since lordrichter found a support article specifically about it, ZOS are obviously aware of the feature and support its existence.

Does Shareplay access the same account, or is it a different one? Sorry, I don't play ESO on my PS4, so I just don't know.

Thats right. Shareplay just hands over control of the game while its active. They cant access your game without your consent.

It's the equivalent of passing the controller to your buddy. Account sharing would be the equivalent of me playing my account when I'm at home, and my wife playing with my account on her own character when I'm at work.

Same account , think of it like watching a stream and the streamer hands you the controller so u can control his character.

I don't think it should be bendable offense just due to the fact that your not sharing account info and the 2nd player doesn't have access unless you "pass him" your virtual controller ,

he can't log in while I'm at work etc etc

    Well... Yes, and no.

Most of us at Champion Point cap agree that it's cheating if you, for example, get someone else who is more skilled than you to run Maelstrom Arena on your behalf, so that you can get a Maelstrom Weapon. That surely applies whether you hand over your login information, or simply pass your controller to a friend.

I can see how Share Play is awesome as a promotional tool for ZOS, allowing you to "share" the game with your friend who doesn't have it, so your friend can see what it's like and maybe decide to buy it after playing for a while.

But the Share play FAQ specifically states "If you are stuck in a game or want the visitor to try a game, Share Play allows you to hand over your controller to a visitor so they can play instead." So... if you can't get past a particular arena in Maelstrom, you could get your friend who is more skilled to play for you. And that definitely seems not quite right.

You could do the same thing in a Veteran Dungeon! You've run the whole of Veteran Cradle of Shadows but can't get past Velidreth? Never mind, "pass" the controller to your friend who can hit the buttons faster than you can, giving your character more DPS!

Because it's a console feature seen as a benefit I think it's fine and not technically account sharing as the account owner is doing it and involved.

Different than Xbox one where each has to have their own account but who can both play simultaneously the PS4 way is two ppl going at once.

In ZOS's eyes, this is against ther ToS. Your spouse playing on your account could get you perma banned. Just...don't.

We have already established that SharePlay is not against the ToS, as ZOS specifically have a support article about it. Thus we have concluded that SharePlay does not constitute Account Sharing.

    This is quite interesting.

I'm kind of wondering if ZOS has the ability to say no, and if they are only going along with it due to contractual obligations.

I can understand how this is good for testing games your interested in buying... But it's complete *** for anything competitive, at least if I understand it correctly. Maybe you can't get achievements from someone beating things for you via share play...

I also wonder... What ZOS's actions would be if they got a support ticket "I share played my account and this guy sold/traded my stuff to himself then deleted 3 of my characters when I wasn't watching"

It cant be called account sharing due to the terms and conditions of gaming on the PS4 but ZOS would call it that if they could, so they won't be encouraging it or promoting it any time soon.

It would make getting emperor really easy..
