PSA: Vicious Serpent Alternative

If you're really wanting the 5 piece Vicious Serpent for the stamina sustain, there is an alternative. A very cheap alternative: Vengeance Leech
z1YJ0o7.jpg

Rather than just stamina, these are tri-stat restoring and only require 3 pieces. There's no cooldown on the proc. They also drop from PvP boxes, so they're very cheap.

Here's a screenshot from some random grinding:

Just figured I'd share, since they're virtually unheard of.

I loved using this set on my hybrid nightblade. The only downside to the set is that you have to get the killing blow to trigger the 3 piece bonus, whereas serpent also triggers from kills in your group or something like that.

VO only triggers if you get xp. The 5th perk is pretty crap in boss fights too as you don't get xp from boss trash.
    PC Master Race

    1001CP
    8 Flawless Toons, all Classes.
    Master Angler
    Dro-M'artha Destroyer (at last)
    Tamriel Hero
    Grand Overlord
    Every Skyshard

I thought most people on use VO for the 3 piece and the 5 is just a nice bonus.

You can also use consuming trap for sustain in trash pulls. Similar mechanic, but is percent based so it scales with your stats. Also, the enemy just has to die. You don't have to kill them. Takes up a slot though.
    PC NA AD
Gamma Fyr: Dunmer Sorcerer Stamina DPS (the Missing Sister...props to those who get the reference)
Samekh Fyr: Dunmer Nightblade Magicka DPS
Claire Le'Rouge: Breton Templar Heal/Tank (the Resplendent Bastion)
Augustus Constantine: Imperial Nightblade PvP (Blackwater Bandit)
    Shadow-of-Sundered-Star: Altmer Dragonknight Lowbie

BTW, VO does not need the actual killing blow, as weird as it is, it procs from the kill XP, meaning as long you deal 10% of the damage, it will proc. On the other hand, this requires the killing blow.

Actually the resource return only works if an enemy dies AND you have empty soul gems lool

False. You don't need empty soul gems.

A lot of stam use it for sustain and the nice part of the 5pc is it still offer more than just stam return with a kill that also provides XP, the cost reduction and added weapon damage makes it all around a decent set. 8% cost reduction is sweet.

I mean the last time I tried it, which was like December 2015, I didn't receive any resource return unless I had an empty soul gem with me.

No, you absolutely do not need soul gems. That's silly. I use the set myself and I can 100% deny that. You do however have to land the final blow - that is true.

I found plenty the other day in Rawl'kha and Elden Root. I didn't have to check much anywhere else because there were so many.

I will note however that the set items aren't always called Vengeance Leech. That is the set name and also can be the name of the items but they also come in different names like Covenant's Beads, Dominion's Beads, Pact's Beads, and so on. If you have Awesome Guild Store addon you can just sort by jewelry and add the text filter as "leech" and it'll still find them.

I'm told that you can get it from the Unidentified Defensive Medium Armor crate from the Elite Gear Vendors, but I cannot confirm nor deny that. Though, I'd assume that would be blue rather than purple.

What I do know is that you can buy the Vengeance Leech set (purple) directly from the vendor in Bruma rather than playing the lotto. Your faction will need to have control over the town, of course. It's the one at the top of the map, so it's closest to Pact & Covenant bases. Covenant has it currently at the time of writing this on Trueflame.

Vengeance leech is really nice paired with VO btw.

The blue boxes only dropped axes but I think the purple boxes drop any one handed weapon and neck.

Which makes it good for magica builds DW bar leech neck leech rings willpower resto or destro staff willpower
