Legerdemain/Thieves' Guild Skill Line musings...

Hey, folks!

I've been thinking about all things acrobatic and stealthy lately and I wanted to bounce them around with you guys.

I've been maining a Bosmer StamBlade for a while now, and while I LOVE the new 10% falling reduction we got, I can't help but feeling this bonus would have been more appropriate for the Khajiit, given their feline heritage and all. Conversely, with the Bosmer cultural practice known as the Right of Theft, I'm thinking they should have gotten the Pickpocketing bonus instead. Don't get me wrong, I actually prefer the fall damage reduction, but this just seems lore backwards to me.

Which brings me to my primary point: I'm thinking Legerdemain could use an update. Am I the only person here who thinks one of the LM passives should involve a 10/20/30/40% fall damage reduction?

And what about a passive that reduces sneak speed reduction? I know stealthy characters have gotten a LOT in the past few updates - there's no denying that. But as far as I know the only ways to offset our reduced sneak speed is to run the Night's Silence or Shadow Dancer's sets, or to pick up the Vampire skill line. I know this is just a quibble (and I really don't mind building around these things), but it really seems to me that something like a 25/50/75/100% offset would be PERFECT for either the Legerdemain or Thieves' Guild skill lines.

What do y'all think? Would something like this be unbalanced, inappropriate, useless? I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

:)

I disagree. Bosmer from Valenwood (which is most of them) live in a province known for the most massive trees in Tamriel, and they typically live in those trees, so presumably they would be very aware of how best to minimize any injury from falling. Khajiit from Elswyr, on the other hand, live in a province badlands and forests, and they typically live in houses built on the ground, or on stilts - either way they don't like their lives as high above the ground as Bosmer do, so the risk of injuries from falls would be much lower, and they'd be less likely to require knowledge of how to minimize injury from falling.

As far as pickpocket goes, lore-wise Khajiit notoriously have a reputation throughout Tamriel as thieves - to the point that some settlements won't allow Khajiit traders to come within the town limits. Bosmer, on the other hand, do have the cultural practice of Rite of Theft as you say, but it's something that they really only practice amongst themselves, and it's fairly ritualistic in nature. There's definitely an argument to be made that Bosmer could have a bonus to pickpocketing because of it, but I feel that the argument is weaker than the argument that Khajiit should get a bonus to pickpocketing.
Which brings me to my primary point: I'm thinking Legerdemain could use an update. Am I the only person here who thinks one of the LM passives should involve a 10/20/30/40% fall damage reduction?

I'm not sure about the fall damage reduction suggestion, but a sneak speed passive in legerdemain would make a lot of sense to me. I don't particularly see a big need for it, as it's very easy to craft Night's Silence sets (I think that set only requires 2 traits), but lore-wise if nothing else the passive you suggest would make sense to me.

I don't care how, but I would take fall damage reduction from anywhere, anytime. I fear no raid boss more than I fear the cliffs in Wrothgar.

lol just yesterday I got a little overzealous with my galloping along in Wrothgar and accidentally went right over a really high cliff... By random chance I landed in a pool of water and survived. Every time I go over a cliff in this game, though, I always get that feeling in my gut as if i was actually falling to my death IRL... I don't know why falling is more terrifying in this game than others I've played, but somehow it is.
