Why do I need to reinstall when changing server?

On the PC I decided to change server from EU to NA but it's now wanting to reinstall to do so. Anybody know why?

The two clusters could conceivably be on different patch levels.

I know sometimes our patches were separated by days.

Server. I wanted to change from EU to NA

They're in seperate folders just like PTS so if you want all of them you end up with 3 instances.

After it's downloaded and installed you can swap between them and don't have to install every time (but must be updated if needed)

^ I'm pretty sure this is the reason. You'll most likely be able to copy your EU installation to a different folder/drive and edit it to be an NA installation though. I'm pretty sure that's what I did way back when I did an EU install (thinking I would play on both servers, but in fact not being able to send myself stuff from one server to another proved to be a bigger issue for me than I expected, so the only thing I ever use the EU server for is playing around with character creation), but I don't remember the specifics of it.

And if you're going to start playing on NA maybe I'll see you in-game!

Yeah. I forgot about being able to copy the folders...

Just let it get to about 15%, kill the launcher entirely, copy your EU installation folder into the NA one and then relaunch the patcher.

Should skip to verifying and you should be good to go.

There are some differences to the client, although most files are the same. It could be improved I guess, but this it how it is now. There also is a workaround where you start the DL, close the launcher, copy the files from the english EU install and "Repair", but I haven't done it myself so I don't know about the details.

NA ans EU will reside in different folders on your PC. You can copy the contents of one folder to the other and this shortens the download.

That's surprising - I didn't realize I had so many more AD characters... I thought I was about even in my distribution across the alliances.

This is a good point - anything that you bought with crowns on the EU server won't be there for you on NA.

Yes so EU is always seperate from NA

No copies, you start over. The only thing you take with you are crowns (not stuff purchased with crowns) and any stuff tied to your account before the B2P switch (beta & pre-order bonuses, subscription loyalty rewards, etc).
