Need 9 trait armor

So now that I have everyone's attention, I have run into many occasions where someone wants 9 trait armor you ask which set and they say doesn't matter as long as it has 9 traits. Perhaps we could get a sticky or something to explain how crafting with traits works not that it is going to solve the problem but maybe some will take the time to edumacate themselves.

Unfortunately, it's probably the people who don't read the forums who need the information the most.

But I can sympathize with what you are saying. I was at the Julianos station when someone asked if I could make him 7 pieces of Julianos light armor. I asked him if he meant only 5, but he said, "Nope. I need a full set of 7." <facepalm>

Full set of 7 hahah thats awesome. Im so weird about asking random people to help craft gear Im scared theyll steal all my mats it took 2 months to get hahaa. Ive been doing my clothing/blacksmith research alot though Im about 5-6 traits on most stuff. The day I can make my TBS set will be glorious

We're opposites: I should be making a fortune crafting 9-trait for randoms (I wear TBS myself), but I'm too shy to *** myself out in the middle of the capital city shouting matches.

When I help a guildie or a dungeon-mate, I run into OP's problem: they say "make me [blank]", and I message them "Sure, just specify set, level, traits, style, quality, enchantments, and which mats you already have." I have received a sensible answer and a full set of mats exactly once; the rest seem unwilling to give it that much thought.

And I will admit that I was once the guy asking about a 7-piece set...granted, 4 seconds of googling set me straight. But the theory was that the 2 and 3 piece bonuses would count a second time as if it was a second set...not completely illogical, and it would have spared me from needing to re-acquire the second boon on my Twice Born every time I swap out a piece (i.e. to wear Night's Silence for heists and sacraments).

Wait, does it actually work like that? 7 pcs of the same set gives you 2 times the 2 & 3 pc bonus?

My heart goes out to ya OP. Crafting in this game has been a nightmare. I've become quite the hardass. I've also started sticking up for other crafters. We're not a charity.

Agree with The_Patriarch, the people who do not know are the ones not reading these forums. Then they do come in and ask 'Can some craft me 5 pc Hundigs..' with no thoughts as to which traits, what style, which 5 pieces they want, not to mention heavy/medium/light.

I have spent 20 minutes, with someone who approached me while I was at the crafting station, while he changed is mind about which pieces he wanted and even then he wanted waist and belt !!
He had the material, did not care about style, knew what trait he wanted and it still took 20 minutes...and he then waited for me to give him the 16 pieces if material back that I hadn't used (level 40 or something) !!

A sticky would actually be very useful. It can be confusing to noobies(me) and I still don't understand what traits and divine, etc. even though I read the forums a lot.

It's quite possible that he was getting 7 pieces to mix with another set that was yet to be purchased and therefore didn't want to revisit / find another crafter later down the track.

I only suggest this because I do the same for myself. I'll craft 7 pieces of one set and then I'll mix it with other purchased sets that I'm yet to buy or likely later to swap out. It means I can buy the cheapest piece of the other set and know it'll always fit into my set-up, and I have a little bit more freedom in the look of my character as well.

Because I swap sets a lot it comes in handy!

Or, yes... He could just not have a clue, which is pretty funny.

I know item sets go up to 5. If wearing 7 pieces are the extra items totally ignored or would it work as 5 pieces effect + 2 another pieces effect?

I have created training gear for training up my alts. I have crafted these as with all items as the same set. I know the optimum is 5 items of one set mixed with the rest being a second set. As these are training sets, if they do their job well the charaters will grow out of them quickly. That being the case I don't know if it jusifies the effort to combine two trait sets.

The crafter alt is also in training and now has just got to knowing at least 4 traits across all the armour. I might see if my crafter knows 3 or 5 armour types with 5 traits yet. Then I can craft those pieces on a different 5 trait set.

So if you have 7 pieces of the same armor it'll only use up to the 5 bonus, the remaining two will not stack with it as well. You need to run 2 different sets for it to have benefit. It'll be more beneficial to craft 2 more items in any set than to wear 2 of the same of the 5 piece you already have on...

Having said that... If it's training, I wouldn't worry toooo much because, yes, you'll prob grow out of it quick. But hey, you have to craft it anyway! Just find a set that has a good 2 piece bonus that you can craft and do that. It'll give you a small bonus in something at least!

Btw if you could stack two of the same I'd wear like... 10 viper and hit for 16k poison dmg every 4 seconds on top of my normal damage!

I would assume items in back up slots will only apply their effect when swithed over to and not just by having them in a backup slots? I.e. if a two handed set item like a bow is equipped in the main slot and set item sword and shield are in the backup slots.

I will say to date I haven't had anyone craft anything for me. Being self sufficient emcourages me to keep on training up knowing it will open up better and better gear in the future.

Yes that's correct. That's for all weapons. If your weapons are part of the set then the bouns will only activate when you are using that weapon. If you aren't using it, it's considered unequiped until you weapon switch. So if you have a 5 piece bonus on a 2H sword but not a bow, and you're using the bow, the 5 piece bonus won't be active until you switch to the sword.
