repo
repo
Im a bit confused as to what i can and cannot deconstruct.
i have a full inventory of armor and weapons i have looted yet cannot deconstruct it all, only certain pieces.
im trying to level up blacksmithing and was told to deconstruct everything.....

is it only certain types of things that can be deconstructed, also whats the best way to research traits etc s all mine say 0 traits available to research

cheers

For blacksmithing you can deconstruct swords, axes, maces and heavy armor. light/medium armor is deconstructed at clothing table, staves, bows and shields at woodworking table. There are also two tabs on blacksmithing table: weapons and armor - go through both. Going through all three tables you can deconstruct all gear except jewelry.

Initially you can research one trait at a time. For more details you should read e.g. @Tevalaur 's guide .

Easiest is to level all crafting skills at the same time, deconstructing all gear that drops. Most of it is trash. You can keep the ones you want to research though. Best traits to research first are training, infused, divines for amror, training, sharpened, precise for weapons. Just rotate trough each station (woodworking, clothing, blacksmithing) and tab (weapon and armor) and clean up your inventory. When the base mats amount to a stack of 200 just put them for auction on guild stores. They sell fast if the price is right. Skill will increase even if you don't put any points in it. So you can make money, gain inspiration and get to craft some good sets pretty fast. Inspiration is separate by proffesion. So yes, deconstructing bows, staves and shields will get you woodworking inspiration, heavy armor and bladed weapons blacksmithing inspiration and light/medium clothing clothier inspiration.

Blacksmithing is the art of working metal. The only armor in this game made from metal is heavy armor (medium armor from leathers and light armor is made of cloth). Weapons made of metal affect blacksmithing, i.e. daggers, swords, maces, axes, while weapons made of wood (staves or bows) affect woodworking inspiration. There are other sources of blacksmithing inspiration (such as the writs for example), but when it comes to deconstruction, only heavy armor and metal weapons will help you level blacksmithing, and deconstruction is your best source of inspiration.
