No, they are scummy and the folks at ZOS who are pushing this should be ashamed of themselves for bringing such low-brow garbage to one of the most beloved fantasy franchises on Earth.

I'm probably not even going to stick around to see the crates hit live. They lied to us about there being crates in the works, why the hell would I trust them not to turn the crates into P2W the second they think they can get away with it?

I'm one of those "whales" with many costumes, extra char slots, mounts etc... But I wont buy those boxes. I want to know exactly what I'm buying and for how much, and I dont need crown potions and food.
Especially knowing ZOS' rng... *pokes her vMA staff that took oh so many runs* Im afraid that new mounts will cost from 50k upwards.

Its be stupid of them not to after some time. "look how well the boxes sold with just cosmetics! Let's add something juicy" or "boxes aren't selling so well. Let's adjust the drop rates in game, and add our uber gear to the boxes to drive up sales". We've been there, seen it in other games. Very disappointed.

My 2 cents on this, no. I would only purchase something if I can see and know what it is. I don't fear that this will become P2W, I trust that ZoS will keep to their word, but I do have concerns for the gambling element and already the RNG in this game is terrifyingly poor. I can confirm I don't trust the unknown when it comes to ESO.

I'm regretting stocking up on those extra crown packs during the last sale now that I know all that awesome looking data mined stuff I wanted to buy is most likely going to end up in these boxes. If I want to gamble I'll buy lottery tickets.

Nope. In fact I'm not buying anything more in ESO ever. ESO plus membership is canceled and the game is uninstalled off my system. And to go even further I was planning on buying Doom come the first of next month but that isn't going to happen either. I'm so disgusted with the idea of this RNG chicanery being added to ESO that I refuse to support Zenimax or Bethesda any further.

Yeah, Doom is actually pretty solid, but I understand completely. I'm honestly on the fence about a lot of things I was pretty solidly commuted to before this. Dishonored 2? Eh... probably not. Prey? I'm not sure even Chris Avalone can lure me back to that, now.

I buy mounts, pets, and costumes/appearance items from the Crown Store. I am not interested in food, drink, potions, scrolls, motifs, skill lines, or other consumable items. An exception might be dye packs, in the future.


So, Lucky Crate strike #1 is that it will contain some consumable item that I don't want.

When I want something from the Crown Store, I go buy it. If it is not available for purchase, I don't buy it. There is nothing in that store that I must have. Everything is optional. I lose no sleep over missed Store opportunities.

Lucky Crate strike #2 is that it might contain some pet, mount, costume (etc) that I had the chance to buy already and chose not to. If I did not buy it then, why would I want it now? If I miss an opportunity to buy a limited time, or departing, item, then I did not care enough about the stock in the store to keep track of that stuff, so why should I suddenly care now?

Conclusion: I have absolutely no reason to buy them.
