Brand New to the game

Hi,

Im late to the party with this game on PS4 (EU) but a fan of elder scrolls. Not new to MMO’s and do like to do a bit of RP too.

So after the huge 31gb first patch last week, then a nice surprise 19gb DLC this week im ready to start the game.

Im literally 6 hours into the game so only level 7 or 8 and finding my feet.

Quite surprised no-one talks in game now that text chat is out. By chance I ended up running a quest alongside another player and it was like we were just playing single player with downside that we had to share the pickings of kills depending on who was in front.

Is there any areas where people do work together/group up? Im guessing im too early in the game to be in those areas yet.

If u want nice player with player action, go for pvp. Hit lv 10 and off u go to cyrodill. I wouldnt bother with the story cos its boring. Just stick to pvp.

Oh and, dont buy the dlcs or any of the costume crap, its a rip off lazy, rushed product only to make a quick buck. The base game is enough.

Other people's opinions on the DLC and the story may vary, of course.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

There is a lot of social interaction. Start off by looking on the forums for a guild that may work with your play style. Also, turn on area chat and meet some randoms.

The best advice for any new player is to ignore this sort of crap and form your own opinion of the game.

Grouping is certainly something to look for a little later on in terms of dungeons etc, and I'd recommend guild membership if you're looking for regular groups. However, there is also a lot of co-operative play in the game so you work through content such as dolmens, world boss mobs etc alongside other players without actually needing to group formally with them.

    Welcome and enjoy  !

If your running next to someone, just ask them to group. On the PC we can pull up a menu when clicking on another player and ask them to group with us. Not sure how you do this on the consoles.

You get a 10% boost to Exp earned while grouped with another player (it goes to normal for 3 or 4 then reduces for groups larger than that in most cases. I don't know if the exp drop for 12 player groups for DLC world bosses is much to worry about, and such seems to be normalish (I don't pay too much attention to the numbers but your not doing DLC World Bosses for Mob kill exp, but daily quest exp and loot). Note, most non DLC zone World Bosses can be solo'd if your build is up to snuff. Or, you might want 1 or 2 other players around for the more difficult ones.

However, outside of Group Dungeons/Trials, most PvE grouping is ad hoc or causal in nature, group up for the delve, then dissolve after your done kind of thing.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Welcome to the game!
Did you enable text chat? Even if you did some people (or a lot, who knows) won't use it for various reasons.
If you find yourself in a quest area with another player, chuck them an invite :) they may appreciate it and accept or ignore you.
A nice social guild is great to have, most use voice chat so the game will instantly feel more alive and mmo ish. From level ten or so you can go group dungeons (although I wouldn't until I'm level 15 for dual bar but I'm a wuss) through group finder or with your guild.
    Hope you enjoy it :)

Playing through the story is mostly a single player experience, However once you start running dungeons, trials and heading on over to Cyrodill that's when the social interaction begins. Hope you have a fun time playing, If you like feel free to add me on Playstation (KICHZY).

Hello @Suter1972! If you're a fan of the series, and have played the single player games, you might not want to write off the quests if they have appealed to you in the past. Some can be a bit repetitive, but I find that many are well written, very well voice acted and can be good fun. Definitely worth considering in my opinion. It all depends on how you want to play, of course. And it is your choice to make :)

The RP on PS4 is there, but it can be a little difficult to find sometimes. I've stumbled across quite a few who are happy to interact during my time on the EU server. Some want to do dungeon runs, others are happy to entertain off-the-cuff scenarios. And then there are RP guilds, taverns, etc. Again, it depends what you want to do.

    Happy adventuring!

Thanks for all the replies. The new / tutorial areas were actually quite busy with low level players (some clearly Alts as they had pets that are no longer available). That should be seen as a good thing for the experienced players that the game is still attracting new players

Can I ask how you start PVP. Is Cyrodill simply a PVP zone, similar to the dark zone in the Division. ie once youre in there, your in PVP mode,

or, do you have to elect to be PVP'able somehow?

I like the interaction but don't fancy being fresh meat for the vast majority of players who have hours/weeks ploughed into the game

PvP is a zone. You have to specifically go there from your menu (must be at least 10).

Go the the non-vet campaigns for a level playing field.

You can think of the story and 1-50 as training for the real end game.

Heck, you don't even get 2 weapon bars until level 15 ;)

You're not in a busy spot then. If you're DC then go to Wayrest by the guild traders, AD go to Rawl Ka...those 2 spots alone will make you turn off area chat :p

Agreed. You will get a whole bunch of whining before this thread is done.

When you are in your pve zones, be sure to do everything before moving on to the next. The main quest is only part of the content in the zone. There are a lot of side progressions, dungeons, zone bosses, dolmens, etc. Probably the best thing to do to start is look over the achievement menu. It is a very complete guide to what there is to achieve in each zone. If you are a zone completionist, you will enter the next one at the appropriate level.
