personally i think they nerfed the drop rates for tempers/tannins on top level ore and scraps.

im getting more out of low level stuff like jute and cotton and rawhide, and more alloys out of iron ore and galatite ore.

I guess you were not lucky that time. Sometimes I refine 120 pieces, and don't get one yellow part.
The next refining when I refined 10pieces I get a yellow piece.

500 raw rubedo leather in REaper's march and 0 Dreugh wax and only 2 purple! I think soon we will see golden mats in crown store!

I refined about 600 cloth(at different times) and got 2 Wax last night on PC NA. This was inbetween refining wood and ore as well. In total of about 1500 mats I received 7 different gold upgrade mats.

Define 'stack'
I have refined a stack of 100 and been lucky enough to get 5 wax. Other times I have refined a batch of 600 and received 0 wax.
RNG can be a baitch sometimes.
Sometimes RNG can cause me to conduct strange rituals, like standing in a particular spot when I open the writ boxes, or waiting 2 minutes before opening them. I know that it doesn't really make any difference....but...

I remember that in voidstone, nightwood and shadowhide period I didn't had so *** RNG. With V16 materials my stockpiled golden mats went dry.

Honestly, why are you even bothering with Gold Mats? Is the stat change of an amazing 10points that big of a difference you need to spend thousands of gold and hours to make items gold? Then what if you don't like the build? You wasted all that time and mats. Just go purple bro. I have Flawless Conqueror, Stormproof and slay in PvP with just Purple gear.

Purple 1h mace 1132 dmg, gold 1335 dmg. And with armor improvements are much higher then 10 points. When max level was V14, then yes, difference between purple and gold was insignificant, but not anymore.

So just did:

1000 raw ancestor silk, got 2 wax and 8 lining.

1300 Rubedire ore and 200 misc ore , got 3 Tempering alloys and 10 grain solvents.

800 raw Rubedo , got 3 wax and 7 lining.

I think I am done for awhile, this is ridiculous....

I've done 10 writs in 2 days, not one single legendary piece.

The chance is 5% on any refinement. Which means 95% chance of not getting a gold upgrade mat on any refinement. In a stack of 200 raw mats (20 refinements):

0.95 ^ 20 = ~0.36

So, 36% chance of no gold upgrade mat at all from a stack of 200.

People act like not getting a gold upgrade mat from a stack of 200 must be a 1 in a million rarity. It is about 1 in 3.

I did 650 rubedo and got 1 gold 2 purple. And before that I did another 700 and only got 1 purple. RNG is rough

I dont know if its a coincidence or not but I just refined 800 iron ore, jute, raw scraps and got absolutely nothing.

Gold mats are a must for CP160 weapons for the increased weapon damage. For any other armour it is purely personal choice to improve them to gold. I have never improved anything below CP160 to gold and have sold more gold improvement items than I have ever used.
