Emotes and facial expressions (PS4)

I've just noticed that some emotes now cause my character's facial expression to change and I hate it. When I say change, it generally appears to involve turning the corners of the mouth up or down and it looks really bad. Is there a way I can turn this off? There doesn't seem to be an obvious way to turn my character's face back to normal either after using a particular emote either.
