What should be done about the server admins, coders, et al? This is getting out of hand.

TheEnigmatic
Never in my life have I played an MMORPG with so many problems. The first year of the game was a mess. It was a serious letdown. I quit for a while, and decided to start from scratch recently to have a fresh taste in my mouth. It tasted good. Until recent weeks.

The downtime this game has been experiencing is very bad levels of bad. Very unprofessional. How much maintenance and how many "ongoing issues" can an MMORPG have? Bethesda/Zenimax, do you know what would happen to Amazon if they were down for a few hours? How much revenue they'd lose? How bad their stock would drop?

Bethesday/Zenimax, you need to fix this and not put bandaids on the problems, and furthermore stop repeating the same rhetoric every time it happens. You need to fix it. You need to take action. YOU NEED TO CARE.

So what are you going to do to show us you care? You can start with correcting the employees you've hired or contracted. Corrective training, warnings, firings, whatever it is you need to do to get whatever incompetent employees you have running the servers to do their jobs. Hire competent people.

I'm not the only one who is sick and tired of you people sticking your feet in your mouths week in and week out.

So what is it, folks?

Overworking people will make everything better, sure.

Firing the whole team means you're looking at years for a new team to get up to speed.

Always downtime right when I can actually play the game...

Why is this always happening to me :(

No, you're right, that's why there's a lighter punishment. But in my profession, we take our jobs seriously and can't afford these kinds of costly mistakes. Then there's option #3 that'd correct some things in the meantime while hiring more diligent folks.

I'm not young enough to care about embarrassing myself online. Some of us take our IT careers seriously. I am loving the game and it's just mind-numbing that this keeps happening.

Yah, I'm sorry - I realize you're frustrated with the patching and maintenance issues, but the *never in my life etc etc...* hyperbole sorta undermines your complaint. Frequently, in *my* life, I have played MMO's with similar patching and maintenance issues. I have other games (am quite enjoying No Man's Sky right now) and am quite content to allow ESO to patch and maintenance itself until it gets sorted. Maybe I'll lose some hours of gameplay. Maybe I'll even lose a day or two. I'll live.

Yes, this particular month has been somewhat unusual in the frequency of maintenance and patching, even in my memory of ESO patches, although again - I don't pay all *that* much attention. So yes, I see why you're frustrated. I do not, however, agree with the *extent* to which you seem upset by it all.

In short - you're harshing my buzz. Your hysteria over the inconvenience is threatening to impact my own ability to remain stress free about the admittedly mild inconvenience, and I would appreciate it if you would find some method of enhancing your own calm, for my sake as well as for the sake of others.

Sure, I wouldn't mind if ESO worked *harder* at making patches more stable the first time they come out - everyone can work *harder* - but I'm not going to flip my wig if they don't...
