Boo hoo hoo....
That's the point of this post... Didnt you get that yet?
If they won't come out from behind that tree, set down a cold fire ballista. Suddenly the pressure is on them to get in close so they don't get hit with one of those.
I've only had to deploy one once, and, well... It's too late to run when there's a cold fire DoT on you.

Well I kind of got the point that people were upset with terrain items that people could hide behind. But really if someone waits there to attack people, they are also the one 'behind the tree'. It works both ways.
If attacker and attackee are both 'behind the tree' taking up opposite sides of the tree and then running around it then they are both using the same LoS mechanic, yes? No more blame can be put on one over the other.

No ganker waits behind a tree. You wait near horse routes and direct lines from keep to keep. If you don't want to fight take a longer route. Dont bolt escape to the nearest tree and shiver..

I can't help feeling that what this game needs is not so much an arena, but like a level playing field arena where everyone who goes into it has the exact same skills and abilities. Because goodness knows, anyone actually playing the game is going to be accused of at the very least "skill spamming" at some point. It has to be said that using LoS is a new complaint to me, but here it is.
I am not applying this to everyone, but there are an awful lot of sore losers in this game.

Are you seriously gonna force me to play ring around the rosie with you at 10pm at night? I'm a grown a** man, and that isnt my idea of fun.....
A /tell I actually sent three times tonight..
Seriously no fun to fight LoS addicts. Work on your build. Work on your playstyle. You should only ever have to use LoS short term to reset a fight or let some resources regen or get a pot up.
Players who base their entire play style on this need to diaf.....
Duuk

People who continually hit the door instead of the wall after being told not to do that... annoys me...
And many other things...
But, never once, have I ever cried about................................ A TREE..........
Bro... Using the environment is SMART GAMEPLAY.
If you can not handle "smart gameplay" maybe stick with pve bro...

So then the tree is a stalling tactic in your case to have help arrive....
Think of things from the other side of the coin. There are so many strong surviva builds out there. Classes you just can't kill 1v1. As a completely solo player these players are a very tough fight. Some of these classes have amazing burst to go along with their tankiness.
So if you are in group spec and gear and I catch you all alone I should have a fair chance to get your AP. You should also have a fair chance, and you do, of getting to some terrain to stall.
I got no beef with you.
I see solo players who bait fights and lure to LoS or just plain hide from 1v1 once things start going badly.
For example I fought a sorc tonight who appeared to be running solo. We ended up chatting because he was pulling this stunt. So I decided to test him. I opened up on him when he was alone a few times. Instantly he turns and bolt escapes towards rocks and set up his merry go round. He wasn't using LoS for a temporary advantage. He wanted to fight me there and figure out if he would win or lose. If he would win he would use the LoS offensively. If he would lose he would simply use the LoS to hide until help came. With a 15k shield bolt escape and mines..
I call that cowardice.... You have no place playing as a solo character will all the benefits without the risk. Its lame....

Hard to be a sore loser when there is no fight.......

There's is a fight, it between immediate gradification and patience.
Obviously your impulse wins.
Lol troll post 8/10, but who is the bigger fool one running around a tree or one chasing.
If he is circling, stay still, wait for lap 6 and cc, or you know run the opposite direction instead of chasing him.
You are a magblade, drop veil on the entire tree. Put your shade on the other side.
There are so many ways to stop that, but crying is easiest I guess.

If this is such a valid tactic then why do most good players I know never use terrain this way?
I've not seen a single video posted on you tube of the merry go round...

I think its pretty damn funny when a ganker goes for a kill on me and when they fail they go straight for a tree and just start circling it...even when I just stand there and watch. Sometimes I just walk away laughing at the fool and sometimes they do about 5 or 6 circles before they realize I left. Sometimes I kill them for acting stupid, it depends to the player doing it I guess.
Those players are never any good, although they love to troll and make up excuses as to why exploiting a weak mechanic that lacks collision checks for targeted abilities is actually better then playing the game as intended. They probably cant make a build that doesn't utilize unplanned exploits and poor game mechanics anyway.
I get more satisfaction watching players run from me than I get from killing them anyway. So when they look for a tree to hide behind I just laugh and look for more worthy competition that might actually be able to kill me. I consider it a win.
