LoSing out of control

If they are using two handers most likely exploiting the known issue that two hander has with ignoring los and can hit you through the rock and your not able to hit them, not all players hug the rocks for what you think is a legit los ring around the rock fight. Those same players that love those rocks have a real l2p issue when you catch them in an open field, they cannot function and die pretty fast, rocks are just another crutch for some players that never really round out there skill.

    Exactly!

I would also like to add tents into the mix here. Some pretty badass tent and table hiders round these parts lately.

Seriously though I'm pretty sure no one has ever commented on how great another player is at LoSing around terrain and objects.

If I can't kill you - You can't kill me - Purpose of PvP deafeated......

That's the point of this post... Didnt you get that yet?

Well I kind of got the point that people were upset with terrain items that people could hide behind. But really if someone waits there to attack people, they are also the one 'behind the tree'. It works both ways.

If attacker and attackee are both 'behind the tree' taking up opposite sides of the tree and then running around it then they are both using the same LoS mechanic, yes? No more blame can be put on one over the other.

I've only had to deploy one once, and, well... It's too late to run when there's a cold fire DoT on you.

I've got about 7 of these that sit in my bag doing nothing.. Maybe that's a plan!!!!

No ganker waits behind a tree. You wait near horse routes and direct lines from keep to keep. If you don't want to fight take a longer route. Dont bolt escape to the nearest tree and shiver..

Also there is clearly a cat and mouse element to every tree hiding scenario. Good LoS users are waiting for something. An opening or a pot or some resources. Then they suddenly turn the fight around and drop 2 or 3 of their multiple attackers.

Bad LoSers are just trying to use a tree to save their life and stop a fight in a 1v1.

Congratulations - you broke PvP worse than ZOS has!

Very nice idea, what do you expect people to do? There are trees around, that is part of the gameplay. You expect them not to use a tree to hide but just to cower in front of you? Get real!

I cant kill a good solo player alone if i am on Group aoe setup. And sure as hell i aint going to feed him AP.

There are tanks and heals that cant kill anybody. So Why fight you in a dps race? Just use everything you have to stay alive.

Has anyone thought that perhaps these people were in Cyrodiil, not to PvP but to collect Skyshards and Lorebooks... and perhaps they were trying to avoid a fight altogether?!? I know the ONLY time I step foot in Cyrodiil is for those two items, Skyshards in particular, and do whatever I can to avoid a fight just because PvP is not my thing and I don't want to die and be forced to respawn across the world from where I was at. But don't blame me, blame ZOS for putting valuable PvE items in PvP content... because skill points and Lorebooks are a valuable commodity.

Thankfully most encounters I've met another player, usually in a delve, and they haven't attacked... but there have been a couple times I've been forced into a fight... and lost since I'm not a PvP player and didn't come in PvP gear with PvP loadout. However, one time I did fight another player in a delve... I was level 22 Magicka Nightblade, he was VR5 DragonKnight, and we fought for over 15 minutes with neither getting the upper-hand... not sure why, he clearly should have had the advantage with both level and access to abilities. Anyway, I ended up backing away until NPCs joined the fray, then I cloaked and left the delve... waited for him to leave, went back in for my Skyshard. I've never used LoS to avoid a fight, unless it's seeing another player from a distance and ducking behind a tree to avoid being seen in the first place. ;)

I can't help feeling that what this game needs is not so much an arena, but like a level playing field arena where everyone who goes into it has the exact same skills and abilities. Because goodness knows, anyone actually playing the game is going to be accused of at the very least "skill spamming" at some point. It has to be said that using LoS is a new complaint to me, but here it is.

I am not applying this to everyone, but there are an awful lot of sore losers in this game.

    Agreed.

Lots of people in this game, PvP and PvE, complain a lot. It's like they're not suppose to die while in PvP. If they do-- nerf! If they can't kill someone-- nerf! Healing OP-- nerf! Shield OP-- nerf! radiant destruction-- nerf! Wrecking Blow OP-- nerf! lol. That is why this game is so unbalanced, not only because it has something to do with the devs, but also because the moment people they die to something, they want it nerfed, instead of thinking of ways to counter it. It's really silly. Not saying that OP wanted to nerf the trees in game, but still a complain. lol.

If people run around a tree to survive, or regain some resources back or kite you, it's not being a coward, that's their strategy. Maybe you should learn how to think faster next time to counter it. lol. Unless of course, if fast-thinking isn't one of your skill sets, then ok. lol. There are a million things that annoy me in this game too, but instead of bitching about it in the forums, I try to think what I could have done better next time around.

So then the tree is a stalling tactic in your case to have help arrive....

Think of things from the other side of the coin. There are so many strong surviva builds out there. Classes you just can't kill 1v1. As a completely solo player these players are a very tough fight. Some of these classes have amazing burst to go along with their tankiness.

So if you are in group spec and gear and I catch you all alone I should have a fair chance to get your AP. You should also have a fair chance, and you do, of getting to some terrain to stall.

I got no beef with you.

I see solo players who bait fights and lure to LoS or just plain hide from 1v1 once things start going badly.

For example I fought a sorc tonight who appeared to be running solo. We ended up chatting because he was pulling this stunt. So I decided to test him. I opened up on him when he was alone a few times. Instantly he turns and bolt escapes towards rocks and set up his merry go round. He wasn't using LoS for a temporary advantage. He wanted to fight me there and figure out if he would win or lose. If he would win he would use the LoS offensively. If he would lose he would simply use the LoS to hide until help came. With a 15k shield bolt escape and mines..

I call that cowardice.... You have no place playing as a solo character will all the benefits without the risk. Its lame....

If you call using terrain cowardice, then I feel you should look for a game that is a completely flat playing field (perhaps try some sports like football, rugby, or hockey). Or do you think that trees and rocks are just there in ESO for decoration?

Using line of sight is a good technique...running around a tree like squirrels in heat is just dumb and they look really stupid doing it.

I think its pretty damn funny when a ganker goes for a kill on me and when they fail they go straight for a tree and just start circling it...even when I just stand there and watch. Sometimes I just walk away laughing at the fool and sometimes they do about 5 or 6 circles before they realize I left. Sometimes I kill them for acting stupid, it depends to the player doing it I guess.

Those players are never any good, although they love to troll and make up excuses as to why exploiting a weak mechanic that lacks collision checks for targeted abilities is actually better then playing the game as intended. They probably cant make a build that doesn't utilize unplanned exploits and poor game mechanics anyway.

I get more satisfaction watching players run from me than I get from killing them anyway. So when they look for a tree to hide behind I just laugh and look for more worthy competition that might actually be able to kill me. I consider it a win.

I never saw anyone expend that many words on a fight they were happy to walk away from.

Duuk there are a lot of people who agree with you, they just arent posting. I see lots of tree huggers in this thread. Unfortunately it's a part of the game. If thay cant stand toe to toe with you in an open field, well then you've already won.

When Arenas hit the PTS, I will never, ever step foot in Cyrodiil again. Believe it.
