Matriarch and Familiar?

For sorcs do the matriarch and familiar have any kind of usefulness outside of starting out and leveling so having them heal or tank for you? I rarely see anyone use them and wonder if they are helpful or good in anyway in dungeons and endgame content

I personally don't care about the Unstable Familiar morph for the familiar, but the Clannfear morph does make a good personal tank.
The Twilight Matriarch has both pve and pvp advantages, as it provides a good instant group heal.

Yes! Use a destro/resto staff combo and Twilight on both bars. To keep the matriarch from aggroing on everything, press y+block to stop it.

My Healer is a Sorc and the Twilight heals for more than Combat Prayer by like 50%, plus has unbelievable range, making it an awesome pinch-heal. It basically compares to Rushed Ceremony, but requires keeping it alive to function...

I would really like to make a guild of sorc pet builds for PvP and call them Pets Unleashed. Can you imagine a group of 8-10 sorcs each with 2 pets out trying to take a keep. :-P
