Corrosive armor not working in pvp

I use corrosive armor as my defensive ultimate in pvp. As of late I have noticed it is not reducing damage. My tank has 29088 health, which means the max I should be hit is 872 per hit. While sometimes it does work, I have noticed it has a hidden mechanic that only allows it to work a few times before the protection goes away. Numerous times I have popped this off and been killed still within the 10.8 seconds and on my death recap damage far exceeding 872. It also does not reduce a number of other things, like siege damage.

Either the tooltip should be updated so players have the correct information or a bug needs to be fixed.

    I noticed this too, but I just put it down to being a terrible PvPer.

    The 3% protection don't last for the entire 10.8 seconds but only for 3 if i'm not wrong.

    Nope, here's the base tooltip (without the extra duration from the passives):
    • Ignite the molten lava in your veins, limiting incoming damage to 3% of your Max Health and deal [x] Poison Damage to nearby enemies each second for 9 seconds.
    • While active your attacks ignore 100% of an enemy's Physical Resistance.
    • Deals Poison Damage, and your attacks ignore Physical Resistance while active.

    If it lasts less than 10.8s, then it's bugged and needs a vid of its own to showcase the bug.

    Nope damage is suppose to be capped at 3% for the remainder of the duration of corrosive armor.

    I stopped using Corrosive Armor a few weeks back due to its high cost and bugginess. It's a garbage ultimate. The ONLY time it is effective is when used against tanks... but honestly, the best thing to do with tanks is... leave them be!

    I have always used Corrosive Armor. I started having problems with it after DB patch. It is not simply the damage reduction either, the armor penetration hardly ever works. 100% armor penetration should render everyone to have no armor defense while corrosive is up. This used to be highly effective to time your burst with corrosive and immovable pots to kill tanks, I've noticed no higher damage versus tanks when I use corrosive. It is not working properly but I highly doubt you will see them do anything about it.

    My guess is that they somehow reduced the effectiveness of it overall in PVP. Perhaps by giving it only 50% armor penetration and not allowing it to stack with Sharpened. At the same time, they appear to have completely screwed the mitigation of it which works now to effectively double your armor rather than actually cap incoming hits.

    See I thought in PvP damage being capped at 3% only applied to PvE, I've noticed and see being hit with over 5k damage while in corrosive armor while my hits wouldn't even do a significant amount of damage.

    Even in PvE corrosive has been broken..

    with 18.5k health, I usually run it for the random dailies and I've noticed a few times that when i pop corrosive within 2 seconds I'm still managing to take 5-6k hits from enemies.

    Yes, it is extremely frustrating to be one-shotted by a boss with Corrosive Armour up and hits supposedly limited to 3%

    Mmm,

    Yep Corrosive is not as effective as it should be.
    Main problem being with secondary effects like dots, 3% damage/hit is "consumed" pretty fast in PVP.
    The secondary issue may be coding.

    ZOS explained the way blockcost works in a pretty recent post:
    The cost of block is computed once and only once per second, and I am under the impression that corrosive may work the same way, mitigating only one attack/sec at 3% max health, the others not being mitigated at all by the ultimate.

    I may be wrong, but would not be surprised Corrosive worked the same way.

    Im using the other morph for pve and I noticed it has been broken since the update that changed it. (Apply to your ally instead of synergy option) I pop it and it never work. Anyway...im using warhorn but that was nice knowing it was here lol

    Yup just got hit 4.5k-6k while corrosive armor was active. @ZOS_Dan @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Corrosive armor isn't working properly. Damage is suppose to be capped at 3% of my max health but even with hardened armor + corrosive armor active (wearing 5 medium 2 heavy) I am still getting hit for over 4k damage.

    Lol. Working as intended.

    But no, seriously. The skill has had issues for quite some time; in both PVE and PVP. In fact, as someone has said also earlier in this thread — the issue(s) with the skill were reported quite some time ago. But, it was never acknowledged or addressed by ZOS. It's one of those skills that are better left alone, until enough attention is brought to it by the community. And that it gets fixed.

    It's probably an insane amount of dots like most builds are running nowadays. I'm not saying it's not bugged I just haven't experienced this myself yet. I have experienced the non reflect on Scales though, that skill is off my bar until fixed.

    C'mon ZOS, pull your finger out and fix this class instead of finding more ways to buff stamina burst.

    I initially attributed it to dots as well but I've noticed large hits from things like crystal frag and the like while it is up.

    Were any of your attackers using Flurry or its morphs? That skill counts as 5 individual hits within 0.6 seconds. The individual hits (except the last one) are small. With high health Corrosive Armor probably doesn't mitigate that at all, and in a death recap I believe you will see the cumulative damage rather than the individual hits.

    As I pointed out in the post previous to yours, I have noticed large hits 4k-6k from things like Crystal Frag, Lethal Arrow, Executioner, Surprise Attack. All while Corrosive Armor is active, it does appear to work at times just not all the time, it is not the only buff though that appears to drop sometimes.

    I have noticed Hardened Armor and Shuffle sometimes drop off within seconds of application, as well as there are times where the animation will play, the sound animation will play, but I will not get the buff. I believe this may be directly related to the issue with Corrosive Armor's buff.

    Hmm. The potion key has always been dodgy for me. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts before the potion will finally register. I am also reminded of Banelords in IC, when they do their ground-based ice attack. Sometimes they do it, they do the animation with their hands, you hear the clinky sound, but the ground-based ice circle does not happen. I've only noticed that over the last couple of months.

    I wonder what's at work here. It could be more than one thing. Sometimes I think it's the client doing things that haven't registered on the server. Another thing that might catch you out is the Prevent Attacking Innocents option. If you are in a town this can prevent Rapid Maneuvers and the Nightblade cloak, for example, if you are pointing at an innocent while using those abilities. It's a stupid oversight that I pointed out to ZOS once. I play a lot in IC and rarely notice it there, but I think it has occasionally happened to me there.

    Playing a DK since day 1 I always tried to use Magma Armour and run to the zergs to destroy them having 9 secs of virtual immunity. Never worked, I always melted in a pool of butter and tears. For many months I wondered if was my high latency that tricked me into thinking it ran out before it was supposed to or if the damage I used to take was so brutal even the cap wouldn't work. Now I see this thread it all makes sense and I'm inclined to believe it's a huge and old bug. For what's worth, the offensive part of Corrosive always worked for me, I call it the Emperor destroyer.

    Yes i removed it from my bar recently too. It doesn't seem worth it anymore. It's useful for heavy armour guys who like to hold block, but for protection i can get more out of dragon leap morph since its so cheap.

    I wish it worked, but alas it does not. It is so broken, penetration don't work reliably capping damage don't work reliably I feel like this move is a perfect metaphor for the rest of the game.

    I used it in a Battle Ground the other day thinking it would be a great skill... died a few seconds after popping it. I had a feeling like maybe it wasn't working correctly, but wasn't sure.

    I think I will test it properly now.
