I've always wondered about this 'rule' I accept that there are far more DPS than tanks or healers, but how many more. A group is 25% healer, 25% tank and 50% damage. Keep in mind that other MMOs have similar problems with much better proportions. World of Warcraft has 5-man parties, for example, so holds a 20/20/60 proportion. Yet it still has significant problems with damage dealers having significantly longer waiting times than healers or tanks in any PvE content.
I'd say that damage dealers in reality probably make much closer to around 80% of an MMOs playerbase, perhaps even more.
