BOUNTY HUNTER SYSTEM IN CYRODIL?

What do you think about implementing a bounty hunter system inside cyrodil?
Two people log into cyrodil and on the map it shows your target, killing the target will grant gold and a big chunk of ap and bounty points (rewards are a suggestion). After a number of bounties collected you may turn in your bounty points for elite 1 item bonus gear or weapon. This will encourage small scale pvp. I thought about this for a while now and it seems like this would be a WONDERFUL solution to cyrodil. More people will be running around solo to go chase their bounty. I figured if people step into safe zones (keeps, gates, etc) then the bounty system will find another target for you.
The hunted would have the name of the hunter on the screen and the hunter would have the name of his target on the screen. Doesn't that sound fun?
For the longest time us small scale guys run around cyrodil like lost puppies looking for small scale fights. People who choose to chase their targets would be wondering around aswell and this will be a cool improvement to cyrodil. Although I still encourage battlegrounds or arenas I do still love the openness of cyrodil. Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

Unfortunately with the way zergs have been engraved into the game nothing will prevent zergs, at least this would give MUCH more opportunities for us small scale guys to find good fights.

Something that gives systematic rewards of value will be abused in my opinion.

I have campaigned about this before, and think would be an awesome extra incentive for some fun,

There is a bounty board at each alliance gate, giving a list of names from the opposing two factions. A player can create a bounty by providing the toon name in question, and then attaching the reward which can be gold and/or items.

Whenever a bounty is placed on a player, said player receives a notification saying "A bounty has been placed on your head" for lawls.

As many people can take on this bounty for a particular person as a quest, and many can kill said player, but whoever returns the bounty quest first, gets the booty. If multiple bounties are placed on a particular player ( I would imagine there should be a cap ) you can only receive the reward for the bounty you took out.

Other rules to look at, you can only have one bounty per a particular toon at one time etc

Sounds almost exactly like the Fist of Guthix mini-game in Runescape. And yeah it does sound cool, but if it was implemented it would need some form of toggle, not just forcing everyone to be labeled as a hunter/hunted.

We already have a bounty system, but they should add a daily for the opposing teams emperor if crowned.

I love that suggestion! There's just so much that could be done with a system like this. The reason why I suggested a bounty currency system is because there is just so much Pve related gear sets, sometimes we just want to pvp for the gear. This would allow us to receive the most elite gear pvp in mind and put us on par with those guys that are running malestrum etc. It provides more variety is probably what I'm trying to say.

The Arena is pretty small there and you gets two rounds...

This is a passive system, you can choose not to go into cyrodil and hunt bounties. Being hunted.... Well it's cyrodil.

I don't think we need ZOS to do anything for this - why don't we implement it ourselves?
You could organize it and take requests on bounties/hits, and notify the player directly they are being hunted. Heck, you could even get guild leaders across other alliances to get involved and add in incentives like gold/gear/whatever.

That turns it into something totally different.

I know, I was saying that the basic concept of being randomly assigned someone to be your hunter/hunted is the same, and if I'm not mistaken (been a long time since I played) there was indeed a marker above your target's head in FoG.

It would be a different system. I'm not sure how that mini game worked but what I'm suggesting is just something to encourage small scale pvp INSIDE cyrodil. Only you know who your target is and when you kill them the new bounty currency allows you to get some epic loot.

    i love bounty systems :D

but i most love them when you get killed and have the option to put a bounty on your killer.
you have to pay the gold for it.

Your alliance base should have a black board where you can go and see who has the biggest bounty on their heads.

All bountys should stay for a week or so until they get deleted.

And if someone kills the guy you put a bounty on you get a note with the name of the killer.
So you can thank him if you want to :)

to much room for exploiting, like we need anything in this game that could add to more of the exploits this game has.

What would be an exploit? You will never know who your assigned target is. The system will randomly pick one for you. The worst thing that could happen is they can whisper each other and the hunter gets his bounty for nothing. There's ways to go around that but honestly it wouldn't even be a factor.

Zergs are not so in-grained in this game that they can't be dealt with, on the contrary pushing the game in a less zergy meta would be pretty simple for ZOS to do.

    1. Put more objectives on the map to fight over that matter(Towns are a start, but they need to be worth score ticks and Bonuses. Each Imperial City District owned needs to count towards score ticks as well as provide bonuses)

    2. Dethroning an Emp should only require taking 4 out of 6 ring keeps. this prevents everyone from zerg balling in the last keep to defend and spreads out the attackers and defenders as its much harder to defend two keeps on a dethrone then just one.

    3. They need to have a title opposite of Emperor called Usurper and the Usurper gets the same buffs Emps get and is acquired by capturing and holding 4 out of 6 IC districts and a Tel Var leader board implemented much like AP and the top Tel Var earner who captures 4 out of 6 districts gets Usurper and forces factions to defend and fight over the city and outside Cyrodiil as both will equally matter towards the score.

    4. They need to reduce the AP earnings of groups greater then 12 down to zero, and only the top 12 damage dealers will get any type of AP credit, and zerging down 1 guy with 12 or more people results in 0 AP gained for the whole group.

The only way to get rid of the zerg ball meta is to discourage zerg by taking away the rewards assocaited with it in conjunction with creating multiple meaningful objectives to spread players out across the Imperial City and Cyrodiil. Cyrodiil is full of areas no one goes, and that needs to change. Game performance would be better all around and the lag would be far far far better.

The system I'm requesting states that when the player with the bounty enters a safe area you get a new target. So nobody would be permanent hunted.

This ties into an idea I had...

Come DARKBROTHERHOOD content, I'd love to see a "player bounty" with could be set by another player (think GTAO player set contracts).

Obviously this would only work within Cyrodill, but could create some fun for "hunters" and their "bounty". Bounties could be set with variable amounts of gold against a particular player. Other players could choose to boost the bounty against a particular player with add gold. A player could "buy out" their own bounty.

A player with a set bounty could be anywhere in Cyrodill, and anytime an action was taken (capture, kill, chevos), the map would get an icon featuring their last known location... or maybe the icon would track with them for a time (3 minutes?), then leave a "last known". Anyone accepting a bounty would appear on a list of hunters the target player could see, with the same tracking mechanism for hunters. Maybe hunters would have to buy into the bounty for gold... If the hunter could kill the hunters, he pot could be claimed.

GTAO has a mechanism where after "x" amount of time, is the targeted player is able to evade the kill, then the pot goes to him/her. I'd like to see as long as a percentage of the pot is added BEFORE expiration, then the clock could be extended. Logging out, or leaving cyrodill could either cancel the "contract", or simply halt the clock.

Somebody just killed you in PVP and you want revenge? Who ya gonna call? ;)

Adult hide, seek, and kill for fun and profit! :)
