    Two words: crafting bag.

That ONE item keeps me subbing now. I own the DLC in case they put the bag on sale, but will keep the sub as long as they don't.

I am not convinced about that ESO+ is not worth it for new players - I think it is - firstly it will save them a lot of space in their still rather small inventory due to the crafting bag. Secondly access to DLC content allows them access to thief troves, which is stuff, they can sell to a fence or has interesting set pieces which can help them quite a lot, if they like to be a stealthy character. To access those thief troves they do not have to do the TG quest line, they have access to those without to ever have visited Hew's Bane even - so this is an instant advantage and they will come across a lot of those troves already on the starter islands. So I think it is totally worth it, even in their first month in ESO.

Edit: Well and thirdly, they will have crowns and can buy stuff from the crown store, like costume sets AND they can dye them with those colors which they get from achievements - this makes achievements a lot more valuable to them. So in short, ESO+ opens a lot of opportunities and conveniences to them, which they would not have as a standard new player. It is simply more fun for a small price. Most of it they get anyway back in form of crowns - and if they do not need costumes, they can start out with a mount bought with those crowns.

Well I don't necessarily disagree with your point of view but those of us who have been around since the beginning played for a long time without crafting bags, costume dyes, Orsinium, etc. and we enjoyed it just fine.

It's an eminently playable game without ESO+ and in some ways, less complicated for those learning the basics.

There's no doubt that ESO+ enhances the experience - that's the point - but someone trying the game for the first time can easily do without.

As someone who has experienced the game for a while as well without ESO+ and the crafting bag, i think it is a bit like with cars - you can drive an old car which has a clutch and might not even have a synchronized gear box, but why would you want to, if you can have better?- There is no need to do it like "old players", just because they went through annoyances and hardship - the opportunity to have a pleasant experience is there and why not use it if it is there?- I guess those "old players" would have done the same, if they would have had the opportunity. Nostalgia is for old players, not for new ones.

No pun intended btw - I am just giving my point of view like you gave yours.

Edit: And another thing - a new player has to learn all - it is like with a young child, you cannot overburden it, even if you talk in like 3 or 4 languages to it, for it all is new and it takes it like it is and learns it - and so is a new player as well, he will pick up what he needs and wants to know, but as he does not have any idea about what is important and what isn't, he takes it all in the same way - just like a child.

I grew up with computers and internet - there was never really a time in my life where that was not available. I learnt to use that like I learnt to apply butter to a toast, it came absolutely natural, because it was not something special, but something what was an every day's tool. Someone who did not grow up with it, for them it might have been a complicated thing to learn, but to me it was totally normal and easy. And basically so is ESO for a new player, who "grows up'" with these features, they are there, and normal, and he will use them naturally.

Once you have used the crafting bag you will never want to play without it. Or atleast I know I won't
