Need help with a quest

Right now I'm doing a quest "chateau of the ravenous rodent" and I'm trying to find someone called Valaste but I can't find her or him. I'm trying to follow what the map says but I just can't find her/him

First i go to the door like in the first picture and after i go up i see the white sign in front of me. When i go through the door that white sign is under me. Idk what to do

It has been over 2 years since i did that quest but IIRC you need to talk to the three 'guests' (through closed doors) and choose which one to evict(the one that does not belong there, based on what they tell you) - then the quest continues to next step.
