FPS horrible after patch and plummets even further randomly

I have been able to run ESO on High settings throughout my time here. I recently updated my PC and motherboard and my framerate went up. I normally have a framerate between 50-80. Then the latest patch hit and I logged on for the first time and noticed my framerate had plummeted. Not only that but it sometimes plummets into the single digits randomly. Does not matter where I am but it will randomly plummet. In towns, public dungeons, solo instances. Does not matter, the framerate is horrible and then randomly plummets to the single digits. It is nigh on unplayable right now. My specs are below:

i5 66ook
16GBs of DDR4 3200
Asus Nvidia 770GTX
Intel SSD

I have tried disabling all add-ons, disabling all sound drivers except the main one, turning video options off or down, every single tweak guide I could find, restarting PC, reinstalling game. All to no avail. This is infuriating. Please help!

Thanks in advance of your help!

No replies? Anyone having this problem after the patch? I can't believe I am the only one.

I had a similar problem. When logging in, my framerate went from what would normally be 70-100 in the same spot to a maximum of 20, sometimes dropping to as low as 16.

I set my screen size to fullscreen in the video options and that fixed the issue for a time. However, the issue appeared again after I alt-tabbed out of and then back into the game. The issue was resolved by switching back to borderless windowed, which did not resolve the problem, then back to fullscreen again.

Something is very wrong with the way this game handles hardware resources.

Yeah but strangely it has run pretty well for me up until this patch. What is even more infuriating is that I had just upgraded my MB and Processor and enjoyed a couple weeks of great performance until this patch came out and my FPS plummeted.

ZOS, any help on this would be appreciated or just acknowledgement that you are aware of the issue and working on it.

    Thanks!

I am thinking it may be a issue with graphical resources, I have a 980ti graphics card which has 6 GB of onboard memory and can play for hours without losing decent frame rates but I use AIDA64 to watch temps and resource usage and I see over time the usage of graphics card memory creeping up slowly and never going down, maybe there is a texture leak somewhere in there and the memory available for objects and textures to be rendered is being eaten up and forced memory swapping is slowly killing performance on cards with less on-board memory.

I think there has always been a memory leak. I have noticed that since the game came out. It seems to be especially bad when playing a sorcerer for some odd reason. However, this is new for me. I have always noticed the memory leak but it was easily remedied as I could just restart the game and it would fix itself. This is worse because it starts almost immediately and then randomly drops even further. It is making the game almost unplayable.

Since the latest patch my game has been crashing when in cities, only been playing the game for over a week though, but it never crashed until yesterday when I downloaded the patch.

I think it's using more RAM, the info the game gives you after a crash seems to suggest it's trying to use more memory than I have so the game crashes.

There were a few memory leaks in the early game, but they were stamped out. Some of the major FPS drop problems and memory leaks were all introduced when they added DX11 as an API, and there has been no remedy in over a year...

To reference the original poster's reply to my post: my system ran perfectly well before last week's patch too, and I, like you, had an issue of extremely low FPS that was remedied by switching from borderless windowed to exclusive fullscreen. It certainly isn't a hardware issue; it's definitely the software. It runs okay now (like all systems, the game drops to neigh unplayable frame-rates at certain parts in Sanctum Ophidia, an issue that has been reported for well over a year and hasn't been resolved) but... Yeah. This game's optimization and hardware utilization is extremely poor... one of the worst I've seen from a AAA title. It's comparable with Batman: Arkham Knight, and there's nothing worse I could say about a game's performance and code. Even worse, in less time and a smaller team, Batman: Arkham Knight is now far better optimized and buggy than this game. Granted, the SCALE Of Batman: Arkham Knight is a fair bit smaller than ESO, but that doesn't excuse this poor performance and bugs well after two years of the official release.

I've noticed a loss in performance after this last patch as well. Can't do trials anymore as I just lag out till dead. Didnt used to be that way before the patch. Wish they'd at least acknowledge this.

Same problem here. Game used to run smooth as a sowing machine. Now I have 10 fps if I'm lucky. Gets worse every update and patch. If it gets any worse I'll just have to stop playing because even pve content is becoming almost impossible. Already been considering switching to SWGemu : )
