Honestly, Should I Purchase ESO for Xbox One?

Hey everyone, I haven't played ESO since literally the first month after the game launched (For PC). I'm looking at picking it up again, but now for Xbox One. I'm a little bit weary though due to not really hearing anyone talk about this game. Ever. Is the game dead on consoles or is it still running strong? My fear is purchasing the game to find out that there's absolutely no one to play with until I reach end game since it's been out for such a long time.

Thank you for your answers ahead of time!!

There are a lot of XB1 players on ESO and I am sure it has a pretty solid concurrent population. I will however say that right now, consoles, especially the XB1 version, has a lot of additional bugs that PC does not have as far as I know. Main ones being major decrease in FPS at certain points, invisible NPCs and enemies, especially in dungeons (though this is remedied by waiting patiently until everything is loaded up), Orsinium crash looping, and broken Activity Finder (though I am sure PC is having the issue).

The game is playable, but it does have its fair share of problems with notably being random crashes in adventuring and mid-fights that could be disheartening.

My advice - wait for the gold edition - until then ZOS might have fixed the problems and with the gold edition you will get a palomino horse and the first 4 DLCs included - it will come soon. In case you want to subscribe, this is not really a benefit to have this edition though - depends on if you want to subscribe or not - ESO+ has nice new features - a very useful crafting bag for all your crafting materials and baits and you can dye costumes with all of your achievement colors as often as you want.

At the moment it's considered a serious buggy mess since there's issues such as crashing in Orsinium wayshrine and having to mail support just to get your character moved out. There's also problems in the grahtwood main city for turning pledges for those that are AD.

Yes, that is basically clear text - if you want to play now, you might not have a lot of fun and throw this thing into the next corner again - do yourself a favor and wait a bit longer, if you want to play on Xbox1.

Thank you both for the quick responses. Oh wow, so if I were to purchase ESO: TU Premium Edition right now I wouldn't get the DLC that has been released? That's a little disappointing... How would I get the DLC right now if I wanted? I don't see it in the Xbox store.

You buy those DLCs ingame from the crown store, not on the Xbox store - you have those basically always already, they are just not unlocked - and when you buy them from the crown store, they get unlocked.

This said, if you can afford it, I would suggest to subscribe to ESO+ - that crafting bag features is a huge help if you are interested into crafting at all that is - it frees so much inventory and bank space and it is so convenient to use. If you like costumes, the costume dye feature might be interesting for you, because you do not have to pay extra for it, and can use all your achievement colors on them.

Edit hm I should add that currently this costume dye features is not on console yet - will come midst of August.

Theres plenty of players, especially as of late since Dark Brotherhood released. It is a bit funny though, even though theres a good sizeable player base ESO has horrible publicity. Word of mouth about this game is practically nonexistent, and back during E3 when ZOS announced One Tamriel, the livestream hosts even mocked ESO about it still existing.

    That was pretty harsh.

    @Andrew1175

You have to purchase DLC (and other mostly cosmetic stuff) from the in-game Crown Store.

    Pricing:
    • 750 Crowns: $7.99 USD
    • 1500 Crowns: $14.99 USD
    • 3000 Crowns: $29.99 USD
    • 5500 Crowns: $39.99 USD

    DLC
    • Imperial City: 2500 Crowns
    • Orsinium: 3000 Crowns
    • Thieves Guild: 1500 Crowns
    • Dark Brotherhood: 2000 Crowns
    • Shadows of the Hist: 1500 Crowns

You can also subscribe to the game, renewable per month.

    ESO+
    • Subscription: $14.99 USD per month

    Benefits
    • Access to all DLC content
    • 1500 Crowns per month
    • Access to the Crafting Bag, an unlimited account-wide storage for the massive amount of crafting materials you pick up
    • Access to Costume Dyeing, the ability to dye your costumes
    • 10% more Gold from killing enemies
    • 10% more crafting inspiration gain
    • 10% faster crafting trait research
    • 10% faster XP gain

The "Gold Edition" of ESO will come with Imperial City, Orsinium, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood. It will not come with Shadows of the Hist or any future DLC.

Altogether, that is 9000 Crowns in DLC.

    ***IMPORTANT NOTE***
From now until what should be August 9th, there is a rare Crown Sale.

All four of the pricing packages are reduced in price. Most importantly, 5500 Crown packs cost $24.99 USD.

This brings the value of the old $39.99 pricing to 8801 Crowns. It is a gain of 3301 Crowns free per package.

Since Gold Edition basically gives you 9000 Crowns free in money saved on DLC, buying three packs 5500 Crowns (which is 16500 Crowns) nets you 9900 Crowns free in money saved. This beats out the Gold Edition offer AND you can spend them on anything you want.

    *This means two things:
    1) Do not buy the Gold Edition if you want to stay Subbed.
    2) If you plan on ever buying three or more packages of 5500 Crowns while they are on sale, the value in money is equal to the four "free ESO Gold Edition" DLCs and 900 Crowns extra. Plus the Gold Edition probably costs much closer to full price.

Only buy the Gold Edition if you are not going to Subscribe and you don't plan on ever buying three or more packages of 5500 Crowns on sale (the only time you should buy Crowns).

    Hope this helped!

    Agree with @Lysette

Purchase ESO when the Gold edition releases if you want to play this game. It's a good deal.

Thank you, everyone, for your quick responses. I've decided I'll pass on purchasing the game. I think I'll wait it out a bit longer and see how the game is when the gold edition gets released. I don't really like the idea of having to pay 15 bucks/month to use the DLC released. I'd rather just pay a flat price. The company has to make money somehow I guess.

    Thanks Everyone!

That is the same with Second Life - even it is still going strong and there is even a new one in the making - but they are terrible with PR - just like ZOS - and so people think it is no longer there.

In this case wait for the gold edition - it is a good buy for what they offer with it.

The gold edition comes with a palomino horse - a light brown one though, which is no longer in the crown store. I have this horse and I guess I even have a picture somewhere, let me see - yes, it is this one

I gave in... I purchased the imperial edition for Xbox. It was on sale for 48 bucks... I couldn't resist. I hope it's good! I wish I would've bought it on Friday so that I can play it all weekend... I'll probably be purchasing ESO plus once it's fully installed. = Looks like it'll take an hour to install. 70GB! It's crazy!

At the games' current state, I wouldn't purchase it. Constant dashboards in PvE and PvP. Constant loading screens. Invisible NPC's/enemies. It's a disaster at the moment.
