Well, there is no other simpler and direct way to explain this, so if you're a sensitive person, I don't recommend you to partake in the discussion.

This is just a outflow of my "eso experience" as a gamer from Brazil (yes, foreign country THAT IS NOT EUA) that is disappointed about the "eso community" of players.

I'm being 100% honest in every word, and I'm not trying to make any type of offense of ANY kind to any player and/or Gamemasters.

This is not an "issue that needs to be solved", as there is a "ignore function" in-game, it's just a outflow.

Well... to the point:
While questing in Tamriel, I always look to the chat to see what people are talking about, and it does make me frustrated when someone speaks in other foreign language THAT IS NOT english, and someone starts saying things like "oh no... another (X race from Y country) polluting the chat". Or having the work to minimize their games to open the Google translate, and translate "damn you br", and pressing CTRL+C CTRL+V on the chat (in which is "malditos br").
Or anything like that... showing their "rage" to other races or other countries of the world.

Do you people know that there are lots of other foreign players (there are lots of guilds too) that keep to themselves or speak english just like you? I know, it maybe hard to understand this, but it's true! One can learn another language and "SEE" that you are making a grave offense that could ban you from the game. There is a lot of text when you first enter your game, in which are rules that you have to follow, and they are not just a "roll to the end and press E to play", you NEED to read it.

Well... I don't think I need to write further as I already did what I wanted.

Remember, this is a game, we play for fun!
Speaking of which, have fun!

To be honest I'd like to say that they're a minority and its standard for American and British people to treat others with respect but.. I am from a pathetic nation and most of them are too ignorant to bother with.

I'd honestly just find people who are from your country and make sure you get the respect you deserve.

    As a fellow brazilian gamer:

I of course condemn racism and xenophoby, and I've been on the receiving end of both online. Some people will hurl insults at you and refuse to run with you if you so much as say you're brazilian. Zenimax's response to this is ridiculously absurd : "Use the ignore function". I couldn't even believe it when I read those words.

With that said, using zone chat or any other non private chat to speak in any language other than English is plain rude. English IS the official language in ESO.

I'm very sorry you're running into this especially because there are very few things you can effectively do to avoid it and one of them is to make use of the ignore button quite often.

From weekends playtimes my general opinion on the zone chat is that it is toxic. There is racism, xenophobia, and pretty much every rude manner you can imagine spammed purposely by people trying to create a chaos and start a fight with anybody who would take offense on that.

I consider acts such as these serious crimes and TOS violations and companies lenient to it are not only neglecting the people directly involved but all its community.

I've also seen racism and xenophobic comments from fellow guild mates towards other players from the same country but different regions in another game I used to play, so I came to the conclusion it must be fought over but it is not exclusive to any country or guild but from very uneducated people who make use of an online platform made available by the gaming company to humiliate or ridicule other people.

This is why in my opinion the companies should be the first to act against such behavior since there would be no such offense if this platform wasn't offered.

I understand that if I put two hamsters in the same cage and one is severely injured by the other I'm the one to feel bad about that.

It's really sad that this is still happening in the 21st century. We are not even that different from each other. Different languages ok, but most are able to speak or at least understand english. Some cannot really speak it and so they might use their native language to say something - I do not think that is per se rude. They have no other way maybe and they are looking for someone they can interact with. A little bit more tolerance could help here. Just because they use another language does not make them aliens - it might be that they play an international game for the first time and are not used to that people from other nations expect them to speak english.

I am in a russian guild and I do not speak russian at all - a lot of them cannot understand me, because they do not speak english, but some try to get what I am saying and we have sometimes a lot of fun, when I google-translate to russian what I want to say - they tell me then, what it means in russian - not always what I intended to say. So we try to communicate, even we do not speak a common language - it is hard sometimes, but it is possible. Important is just that we at least try and respect each other - we are not that different in the end, we are just using a different language, that's all. I try to pick up russian phrases, they try to use english ones - sometimes it is funny, what comes out of it - and laughing together is a first step to create common ground, on which we can build friendship - over times we will learn to communicate, if we keep trying.

Keep that in mind, when someone is using another language than english in such a channel - they might not have another way to communicate yet, but they could learnt it, if you give them a chance. And you might learn something as well.
