New Player - Concerns and Questions :)

I didnt see any New Player introduction thread or sub-forum anywhere which leads me to posting this here.

I started playing a few days ago on PC-EU and im enjoying this game, all the quests being voice acted is certainly nice.

My character is a Dark Elf DragonKnight, i have no idea what kind of builds i can do for this class so im just rocking heavy armor and a 2-handed weapon along with skill points in Ardent Flame and the Draconic thing, i have Lava Lash, Hardened Armor, Dragon Blood, Burning Embers and Fiery Breath(no idea what to morph it to) along with that Standard thingy for my ultimate, i morphed it to increase my damage done and to decrease damage dealt to me.

I thought of this build, with this i can both take damage and deal damage and it has proven useful so far in dungeons as i have been able to stay alive far longer and take way more punishment than the other DPS and the healers ive come across and that allows me to deal more sustainable damage to the bosses since i dont have to worry about my health going low when something breathes on me.

I am also dabbling into Enchanting and Blacksmithing, its fun. :3

I havent put any points into any weapon skills yet, im thinking of just investing in the two-handed tree and just be done with it, nor have i allocated any of my attribute points as i have no idea where to put them for my class or build.

However, i have a concern and that concern is the performance of the game, my specs are:

Nvidia 1070 GTX
16 GB of Ram
Intel Core i5-4690K

And im getting frame drops down to 30 and sometimes even lower, i dont think that should be the case with the kind of rig i have, i havent seen any game that drops to 30-20 fps under any circumstances that often.

As for my other concern, its the queue times for the dungeons, they are absolutely atrocious, ive been queuing up for dungeons since i hit level 10 and ive never been able to get into one so far, whats up with that?

My questions are:

How do i get a Vampire Bite and what are its positives?
Where should i allocate my attributes?
What are the must-have abilities for my class?
Am i playing this game right or am i screwing myself over?

Thanks for reading!

Vampire Bites come in Zone 5 for your alliance, the skills is set to L38, so it will level super slow unless you are near that level on your character. And, since you are weak to fire, your basically running around in gasoline soaked rags until you an build up the skills to compensate.

    1. For crafting, the best way to level is to deconstruct mob loot. Make sure you research traits too.
    2. OK, this is going to be a long answer:

There are two ways to go in this game, Magic or Stamina. Your Attributes should be all in one or the other. Then you pick your skill morphs to be based on that resource. You can always respec later, so don't worry about mistakes now.

As for what skills to use, here is how you do this for leveling:

Have a skill from each of the 3 class skill lines on your skill bar at all time, this is how you level your class abilities. You want them at 50 at some point.
Have a weapon skill on your bar at all times to level that skill
Have a fifth skill on your bar at all times for support or for leveling or extra damage. But, while leveling, use a skill you need to level, even if it is not your best one. As the Morph might be really good, but the base skill is kind of Meh

Wear a mix of all 3 types of armor. While leveling, just use looted armor from mobs. It will be fine. Don't bother repairing it, just replace it with more mob loot. Once you get to where you see 5 piece bonuses, then go 5/1/1 with the 1's being your off armor. Things change in this game and you might want to change your armor later. It levels the slowest next to class skills, so level it while Armor does not matter too much. Above L50, armor matters.

There is no real right or wrong way to play, as long as you are having fun, that is all that matters. Don't let the Min/Maxers who look for the nth degree of power sway you into thinking you can only play one way. Leave that for when you start chasing Trials times or vet dungeon speed runs.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Welcome to Elder scrolls online

How do i get a Vampire Bite and what are its positives?

There are different ways to get a vampire bite.
    1. You can get bitten by another player who is a vampire. They should offer the bite for free but some people charge for it  You can ask in the zone chat or in case you are/will be in a guild I am sure people will be more willing to help you for free.
    2. You can also get infected by a vampire NPC, you can go to an area with many vampires and try there. I would simply google the locations because personally I have no clue where to go since I am not interested
    3. And finally you can simply buy it from the crown store. It is the least fun way to do it but hey if you do not know anyone who can bite you why not just buy it.
They use magika skills and there is a skill tree dedicated to vampires. There are some perks and some cons, like always. They take more fire damage, for instance.
    Check this guide: http://elderscrollsonline.info/guides/vampire

Where should i allocate my attributes?

If you would like to be a dps, is is better to put all atributes in stamina/magika, whatever you are using. To be honest, do not worry that much while you are still leveling. You can always reset the attribute points in a special shrine in the capital city of your faction ^^ (in exchange for some gold of course haha)

What are the must-have abilities for my class?

I only played a stamina nightblade can't really help you here. But again, you can change everything when you are level 50 so just take the skills that sound more useful and fun to level.

Am i playing this game right or am i screwing myself over?

If you are referring to the attribute points/skill points etc... Do not worry. You can always reset everything in exchange of gold.

I also can't really help you about the computer features. I play with a 1k laptop that is not made for gaming and the game runs just fine.

I'm not a DK, but I play one on TV...

Well, I do have 2 DKs but they are not maxed out yet and I'm trying to figure out if I want my highest level to be a tank/stam DK or a magicka DK.

But the skills I love from the DK lines:

    - Standard (Ultimate).
    - Dragon Leap (Ultimate) - seriously, get it. It's super fun!
    - Chains. It's awesome for tanking or for bringing casters/archers in when you are soloing.
    - Inhale
    - Dragon blood is very useful, of course
    - Obsidian shield (it's good to pop that before self heals because it gives you the Mending buff)

Truly words to live by...well, to a certain extent at least.

my best recommendations for a lower level vamp (unlike yourself - i didn't do very good research, and, turned myself at level 11 - i thought it was going to be like leveling my ww) is to focus on health recovery.

look for drinks and gear that will give you additional health recovery - lot's of it.

Not a very popular opinion but try to balance your character's attributes early on (unitl at least level 40 or so) - you'll need the magicka for your vamp abilities - but, you'll also need a bunch of stamina to make use of your "vigor" ability (you'll need to join the AP war to acquire this - but, well worth it).

DK's have some decent healing moves right off the bat ( :) )...but, "vigor" will help out a lot through your younger vamp days...

Thanks for all the responses guys, now i feel less like an idiot, i havent died to any mob outside of a dungeon, not even any of the elite mobs i faced thus far, so maybe my build does work a little bit, or the mobs are just too easy to kill, i dont know. :P

If i had anyone to play with it would be great! I am level 24 currently, leveling slowly.

    :)
