MagDK Breton vs. Dunmer

Hey guys,

race Change is here and I'm willing to send my hard earned Money to ZOS ;)

So the question ist: Im fully aware that my LA Breton MagDK isnt the best race (in a min-max Point of view) for my dps mDK. As I mainly PvP, I dont care to much about dps meters and the mathematically best dps. But how big is the difference between Breton and Dunmer in PvP? should i Switch my Breton to a Dunmer to get the +Fire DMG, or is this just a minor boost which does not have a real Impact in PvP?

I'm playing a "typical fire mage" (LA with Destro/Resto), not the heavy mDK 1h/shield. yes, I know this isnt really the top dps class for PvP ;) seems I like to feel the pain...

tl;dr: Any advice of you experienced PvPers? Should I change my LA Destro/Resto mDK from Breton to Dunmer, or can I ignore the Dunmer +Fire DMG because it does not make "a real difference"?

Thank you all!

Breton is a GREAT race to play a Magicka DK. I would say Dunmer or Altmer would be very marginally better but there is very little in it. What is your complaint about Breton?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about Breton. Just curious if the 7% Flame dmg of the Dunmer outweighs the Max Magicka and reduced Mag Cost of the Breton in a PvP scenario.
As we all know: MagDk doesnt hit toooo hard in comparison to StamNB, StamDK etc., so I was wondering if I can afford to skip the 7% flame dmg.

Or, quick and dirty: Do you recommend Dunmer or Breton for PvP?

For duels, dunmer. For zerg, Breton.

I would argue that Dunmer is the better choice for PVP because it negates the fire damage penalty from Vampirism, which is essential for Mag DKs on PVP. If you insist on running a light armor Mag DK on PVP, you better have Healing Ward and/or play with some good tanky bursters with heals. Heavy Mag DKs are still among the best 1v1 classes. They're also amazing at 1v3+ still. Last night I saw a Mag DK Vamp taking on 6+ including an Emperor (Bakery) for over 2 mins and took a few of them down. Granted, they're not 1v12 (and winning lol) anymore, but they're still viable. My only gripe with DK period is Chains giving enemies CC immunity and not having a reliable self heal.

My heavy armour Breton Templar is very good with his magicka. My heavy armour Dunmer DK can barely fully buff himself, apply a heal and a root before he's out. This update is awful on resources so I'd say stick with Breton, I know it's only 1% max magicka extra but that cost reduction and spell resist no matter how many people slate it goes a long frickin way in PvP.

I smell over exaggeration on this 3% cost reduction on abilities would in no way make a noticeable difference.

I couldn't disagree more. DKs have considerably the best resource gain utility right now. Battle Roar (~25% Health/Mag/Stam/Ultimate resored on Ultimate use)+Green Dragon Blood (Heal+20% Health and Stam Recovery without pots, so we can keep CC pots slotted)+Draw Essence (Heal+Restore Mag)+Volatile Armor (1500 stam heal on cast)+Mountain's Blessing (2 Ultimate for casting Earthen Heart abilities, and we'll be using Talons and/or Stone Fist frequently for CC)+Tava's boosting all that(10 second Take Flight/20 second Warhorn/Standard//Magma Armor. Purely from a class skills and passives perspective, nothing's even close.Templars give the best in PVE , but I'd put them behind Sorcs for PVP, because of exchange. Obviously the above makes Heavy Stam DKs the OP recipient, but a Mag DK will barely ever be unable to cast a skill. Tava's is often overlooked for PVP. I honestly find it much more useful than Black Rose or Reactive. It's almost God mode for a Stam DK and it can make tanky Mag DKs almost as godly, especially if they utilize Bat Swarm and Mist Form properly.

Want to kill stuff and have more stamina to keep killing stuff? Dunmer. Want to tickle things while being tickled yourself? Breton.

Breton is fine if that's what you enjoy. My mDK is an argonian, because real DKs have tails. I do what a mDK does best in PVP, an all star in group play, struggle in solo open world. Changing to dunmer won't change that. I've never been in a situation where I died and looked at an enemy health under 7% and thought "man, if I only had 7% more damage I would have killed him"

I would pick your build first, analyze it for what it needs, and then pick your race. If I did that right now for myself, and I had to change race, I would go breton, but it will depend on your current build and what you need.

Maybe different from most others, but I prefer Altmer over Dunmer for PvP. 10% regen>3% extra damage for me.
