Insightful Agree Awesome.... Disagree?

I like the feedback functionality on these forums, but 90% of the time im tempted to use it, what i really want to say is "You're being ridiculous".... i mean... "i disagree".

Any chance we could get one slightly negative feedback choice rather than just 3 positive and no other option? When people say crazy things on here id like to let them know without actually replying to their crazy.

IIRC, the point is that you're supposed to post and explain why you disagree, since that can't be automatically inferred from a simple action like clicking a button.

At least that's the idea behind why there is no disagree option, and why the LOL were removed since people were abusing them as de-facto Disagree.

It would be abused, as the LOL button was before it was removed.

If you disagree with someone, have the good grace to explain to them why. No need to hide behind an anonymous button. It is, after all, a discussion forum.

But what's with an "Awesome" button? Frankly, I've really never seen anything "Awesome" unless it was something funny. And "Insightful"? Useful maybe, informative maybe, but "Insightful"?

Seems like they should have added disagree and left the LOL. People only abused LOL because there wasn't an option that reflected their true opinion.

When you say abused? how is one abused by a lol or disagree button? I would argue that if one feels abused by someone disagreeing with them then that is their problem.

Also, If people say things that are not helpful, miss the point, ignore common sense, or are just plain wrong, is it really worth discussing or is it more productive to simply click "disagree" and move on with the relevant posts in the thread?

Humor is frowned upon. Plus humor is subjective. I've been moderated a couple of times because my humor was inappropriate. Of course, I did learn some things rather disturbing about my humor from it though, so that was a good thing.

Trust me, if someone on the Internet disagrees with you, it typically isn't subtle, and a button won't normally suffice.

The disagree would hurt peoples feelings. And if they took away your forum stars progress, hell some people like me would probably have red(negative) stars.

I wouldn't mind so much, but there would have to be some sort of way to block people from disagreeing with every one of somebodies comments just because they saw one that offended them.

I really would like to see the ability to choose insightful, agree, and awesome all on the same post though. Sometimes posts do fit all 3 categories and I feel bad only being able to give one.

FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

This isn't reddit. Even youtube have disabled the functionality of the 'thumbs down' button on comments. As others have said; it would be abused. A disagree button allows for minimum effort negativity.

The problem is that simply saying you don't agree promotes mindless negativity without people needing to bother explaining themselves or defending their position. If someone says something you agree with then that makes sense to just click agree, there's no need to explain your reasoning if someone else already has just as well as you could.

Being able to say your disagree or dislike or find someone's post funny or whatever, without any sort of follow up or need to stand by your position and defend it, that makes no sense when you're trying to have any kind of rational discussion or debate. Disagreeing with someone means less than nothing on it's own, what matters is why you disagreed and whether your reason makes any kind of sense.

You should always have to explain yourself when you try to contribute to a discussion, and especially since likes and whatnot are all anonymous there's no accountability for anything people add unless they actually make a post and explain themselves, and people should always be accountable for any contribution they make to any such discussions.

Along those lines I think all likes and whatnot should be public, with the name of the person who liked it or whatever listed for all to see. That solves part of the problem, but even then simply clicking dislike with no attempt to argue a counterpoint is fundamentally incompatible with any sort of proper conversation, and it should always be the responsibility of every poster to articulate their thoughts and reasoning (or like someone else who thinks the same) if they want to make any kind of argument against what someone else has said.

I've been on a couple of forums with 'disagree' or 'downvote' and I (haha) agree with comments above, without such a feature people have to explain why and make opposing points. Whereas, with 'disagree' and 'downvote' buttons, it' s just negative mass voting.

    Zenimax will not allow this.
Just like Facebook refuses to add a dislike button. If people are against something, they can explain their opinion in the comments. I think that's alright. Zenimax wants to emphazise positive things.

This community is very toxic already, let's not make it worse. (and yes, only Zenimax is to blame for this. Because they ignore the community and this results in players going against each other when it comes to what is OP, what is UP etc.)

Disagree would be completely abused and all the naysayers would go around disagreeing with every post as they see fit. People would have far more disagrees than anything if we get such a button just because of trolls...
