Leather nodes from Clother Surveys aren't instanced to player, and can be gathered by anyone.

Umm ok so this may sound dimb, but I was under the impression open world nodes were in fact open to all players, there have been times where a node vanishes after another player gathers it. Am I missing something?

That is the case for normal nodes in the world. This thread is referring to the nodes that spawn when you have a crafting survey, those are supposed to be instanced to the player with the survey.

Any news on this? I stopped doing writs for the moment but I would like to know if/when this is going to get fixed. I've been told some people are actually camping the spots now so it is a pretty big deal.

I won't be taking chances until I know for sure. Nothing has been stated in any threads/notes about a fix so far.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom - any word on this? It is a pretty serious bug. Will it be fixed in Monday's patch?

I would rather that you reverted back to not having leather in surveys if you can't get this worked out. At least then I could be doing my writs.

Ask a guildy (that you trust) to go to the survey spot before you get there, and test it out.

On another note, thank you for adding 'guts' to the furrier caches as well. Not only does it make a lot of sense, it also gives you a little more guts for your fishing, now that you can collect all the other types of bait from both crafting and alchemy nodes.

I picked up my survey the other day, 2 other people were there. I let them step into position of where the node was in front of me. I still got my node

Thanks for telling us! I hope that does mean it is fixed. But it sure does seem odd that they wouldn't tell us that it had been fixed.

It is fixed, can't find the exact post but was mentioned that it was hotfixed on Thursday.

Thanks for the confirmation! I did a ton of searching but couldn't find anything. Also checked over the patch notes.
