Why are they stuck on only 5 skills per class skill line?

Why are they just limiting themselves to 5 skills + 2 morphs? All the base skill lines were originaly magic based, then they started dorking around with stamina morphs.

Why not just add more skills to the class line. Be a lot easier.

Nobody says you only can have 5 skills per class line.

/shrug whatever. sigh

I'm sure it makes sense to them in their head and have plenty of reasons to justify it. But from an outsider, they are wrong to limit their thinking to just 5 skills.

I think because of console in mind, only so many buttons on the controller. I'd personally like more options.

He's talking about adding more skills to each class, not skills on hotbar.

I think he is talking about available skills not the number of slots. To which I say: balance is a pain.

Think about of they had to add at least one more skill to EVERY skill line. Would be a serious undertaking. Maybe one day, but certainly not yet on the horizon.

That is not gonna lead directly to profits like a 3-8hour long 20$ DLC, so a no-go from ZOS. Plain and simple.

yes more skills, not more hotkeys on bar.

I guess I think it would be easier to balance adding new skills (like stamina only ones + the 2 morphs) than trying to have a base magic + 1 stam morph + 1 magic morph.

I think its rare that people just use the base skill anyway, almost always the morph is better. so the base skill seems like a waste as well.

that's the issue with games once they are released. its rare that a company will redesign their skill tree. blizzard does it, probably the only one.

Adding more skills would be great.

Now, let's think realistically for a second.

1)easier to design a whole new skill and it's 2 morphs than just changing 1 morph of an existing skill? Logic fails there...

2)skills that come out would have to be completely free, bad business to add new skills behind paywalls. Free is great for the consumer but not the companies red line.

3)skills that have been in the game since it's PC release are still broken/bugged/ not balanced and you just want them to add more of all that?

4)which blizzard game did they redesign or change skill trees? Wow? Which decade was this done?

    /shrug whatever...sigh

i think its a nod to the fact that there are only so many non-repetitious effects to add.

They decided early on every class would not be able to do everything (trait speaking) and if you stay at a reasonable number like say 5, that helps constrain the development so each can be discrete and different in more than just FX.

But there are also studies and metrics and math for some of these things.

either way, five seems to work fine for me so, i dont see a need for such a major change.

if they were gonna make a less major change to open up a lot of variety, add a THIRD MORPH to each morphing skill. This could allow more stamina and magica and health balance - you could even go wild and have a stamina based, mah=gica based and health based morph or every skill and make hybrids a little more viable. (Ok so maybe it is still major.)

Blizz has redesigned skill trees twice. Once at the start of WotLK and again after Cata. They have also drastically changed certain class specs for the better.

So you basically confirm that blizzard is a bad reference if they needed more than 4 years to change something for the better ...
    Hilarious.

Within each class there are 15 skills, 3 ultimates and each skill and ultimate has two morphs. I think there are enough class skills but it would be better if they balanced the number stamina/magicka skills within a class. Maybe some alternative ultimates could be interesting but I think first things first is that non-class and class skills need to be looked at so that they are closer in balance.

this was also my idea, to at least increase the number of skills on one bar to 10 or so, that would much increase the variability of builds @ZOS_GinaBruno @Wrobel @lambertjack
