In PvP. I just doesn't really work. 50% of abilities hit you anyway.

Edit: I'll add some more detail XD When playing in PvP in fights, you would doge roll to avoid abilities that are going to hit you, I mean, it related to server lag so I shouldn't be suprised. Gap closers pretty much negate all dodge rolling and many abilities fired at you can still hit can damage you mid roll :/

Edit 2: It's just good ol' PvP lag. I dunno why I asked.

It works a little too well in some cases. Gap closers will connect regardless but won't actually damage you mid roll but other things like radiant destruction go right through it.

This is the only MMO I've played where a roll wasn't a class specific evasion. Even as a pve stamDK I think it's ineffective that I can roll out of aoe and go back in without any real loss

It works too damn well. Just do what everyone else is doing and spam RD.

Doesn't always work in PVE, either. I was tanking a particular dungeon boss last night, and I hid double-S every time the red hit the floor on one of the bosses. I didn't make it out of the red before the damage hit once. The terrain didn't help, but mostly it was just that dodge-roll took longer to execute than the time between the boss' telegraph and the damage.

Actual dodge , you know when you press the button and dodge, should work 100% imo. It does not in pVP and PVE and on top of that , actual gear set bonuses or skill passives , where it should be just a chance of the dodge , works better than actual dodge. Actual dodge would be fine if it would work at least as good as shuffle , it costs a lot if you spam it.

I dont have the problems you guys have, maybe it's lag or even a bug? Because for me in PvE it's been faceroll(well not really just completely reliant on how everyone else does) because no mechanic can really hurt me when I can roll 3 times in a second

Maybe you're thinking in adrenaline seconds. Actual seconds. Maybe 1.5 seconds then

I have DR programmed onto a side button on my mouse, so it's just one click instead of two key presses. It helps more than one might think.

yes, double tapping does not work well, if at all - even when i am just soloing content, it is not reliable.

Roll dodge is not meant to work against area effects, cone effects and rays.

So jesus beams, lightning staffs and resto staff attacks all ignore roll dodges, same with all the cone attacks like biting jabs or dawnbreaker.

Some skills are dodgeable (that a word?), and some are not. That's where skill and experience come into play. You need to learn what to dodge and what not to. If everything could be dodged, stam toons would be invincible.

Also, if RD spam kills you more than about once a month, its a serious L2P issue.

Well, if this is true, then I have my answer, why it does not work like expected.

Edit: let me see, if I understand that right - if I roll dodge to get out of red, it will hit me nevertheless once - is that how it is?

L2Dodgeroll... This is one of the few mechanics this game that is actually working 100% of the time.

If you are using doubletab, that is your own fault. If you are unable to time it so you actually dodge, or just dont know what is dodgeable or not, that is your own fault.

Dodgeroll is working in every way. It is probably you not using it correctly.

No, I don't mean the abilities that are mean to hit you while Dodge Rolling, and I don't double tab. I mean that I have been getting killed mid dodge roll and on my Death Recap the ability should be Dodgeable. Such as Surprise Attack, Incapacitating Strike, Wrecking Blow and Crystal Frags. Maybe it's just server lag and the damage is registering at a different point to the animation but I am definitely getting hit by those abilities.

I'll change my statement XD. Dodge roll does work. As it works 100% in PvE. However it all reverts back the the ol' faithful I guess. Lag. Dodge rolling, being hit by abilities and seeing the animation for those abilities when you are in a big fight, stuff doesn't really go smoothly XD So there's no wonder it seems like dodge doesn't work if an abilities damage registers later than it should etc.

I really hope ZOS hires some miners to get some silver for those bullets.

If only there was some sort of lengthy ability that i could slot. One i could press once and forget about for a while since it will randomly dodge for me. So i wouldnt have to actively do anything to make some abilities miss.
