Are you addicted to Looting Everything and can't stop! I'm an Apple Basket Bandit too!! Arghhhh

I can't help it, I just have to stop and loot every single basket, crate, etc. I see people doing quests and they just run past everything and don't even bother to stop. With the crafting bag and auto loot I just click on everything, lol.
I have to look around every corner, check near every waterfall, open every chest, look in every sack and bag, loot every runestone, it's becoming an obsession! I constantly scan the sides of the roads and around every tree and rock for that purple glow of a thieves trove. If I am headed to a quest location and I look over and see an opening in some rocks I have to go see where it goes. I mine every ore and chop all the wood as well.

On my first dungeon experience my group just wanted to run to the boss and kill trash quickly. They passed up any containers and chests and I kept lagging behind cause I wanted to open them all. I really wondered if they were getting aggravated at me for having to play catch up the whole time.

That crafting bag did it to me!!!!!! Before I got that thing I never looted so much cause I was new and had limited bag space.

Do you just run past everything or do you loot it all? Is it pointless? Do I really need all this stuff? I mean at some point do you just have to stop and say "I have too many apples?"

This is one reason I take so long to do content - got to gather everything and check every bookcase obsessively! Can never have enough apples.... actually a lot of this stuff is sellable, probably to those who zoom through quickly.....

Yep. Loot like a b**tard. Can't stop myself. Gave in & subbed and the unlimited crafting bag has just enabled me to indulge in this foible.

Justify it as am levelling up 4 alts, all crafters......

    But that's just my excuse.

I try to check many of the barrels, crates, baskets, backpacks, etc. and I deliberately take my time to explore my surroundings, but I don't take everything. I take what my character would take!

Your point about not rushing dungeons is a very good one.

I was looting everything before the Crafting Bag. And I was constantly running ( teleporting ) back to town to empty my bags. Then on the way back, to my quest, I would loot everything again and end up teleporting back, LOL. I also steal more than I used to now that I have more room in my backpack.

Khajiit wonders why this is even a question?

It is there, it is not stuck to the ground, no one else is standing over it with a big sharp thing - therefore it belongs to khajiit.

I used to be like that when I started ESO, but I'm not so bad now that I have far more mats and gold than I'll ever be able to use.

I'm so glad there's an autoloot option or I would have spent half my game time inspecting the contents of containers.

I've managed to stop looting food containers now (those cages full of bananas were my favourite). But, anything that might contain a recipe or a style sheet still has to get emptied into my pack. There are still two or three of those that I'm missing, but it is months since I actually found one I needed.

For some reason I can resist bottles labelled drink, but anything that says Alchemy Potion is coming with me.

I've also managed to stop harvesting wood, but at the cost of respec'ing all my characters to remove the skill points from "Keen Eye:wood". Things that glow like that are completely irresistible. I still harvest everything else. The thought of missing out on some columbine or a gold temper is just too painful to bear (even though I have more than one complete stack of each).

Whenever I did a Dwarven ruin I used to switch the loot history off, and couldn't leave the place until I was sure I'd looted every last little jug. Then, when I got outside and opened my pack it felt like Christmas if I had a Dwarven style sheet or a new recipe. I still have to loot every little Dwarven jug, but that Christmas feeling has gone, alas.

Checking the colour of every mudcrab I encounter is my latest obsession. The red ones just have to die.

One word.. horder! Get help. Pretty soon intervention will come and people clearing out your house and garage and finding some dead kitties or doggies under all those heap of piles. Lol! yeah, I used loot every time I get a chance, but only pick up those in value of 100 gold and more. I've stopped since now I have millions in the bank and don't see the need to loot to sell to fences for the gold.

Problem is, 99 percent of the stuff you loot from baskets, barrels etc are only selling for 600 to 1000 gold a 200 stack, not really worth but i too cant pass without looting them all since the crafting bag is a bottomless pit. Sometimes I just cant be bothered though if I am running to collect shards on a new toon etc. Would take forever and you only going a few hundred gold for your efforts.

    Oh I completely agree!

Before I got ESO Plus; most importantly the crafting bag (well worth it!), I was SO selective of what I looted. I even avoided Provisioning because that skill line takes up so much inventory space, same with Enchanting - I avoided picking up runes and glyphs because lets face it, inventory space is precious!

As soon as I got ESO Plus and got my crafting bag, it was free range! I now loot any and everything. I also recently turned on auto loot, and wow - so addictive! I just loot, loot, loot and then when my inventory if almost full I'll go through it and it's like a surprise everytime I open it. I recently went into my craft bag to take out some lower level items to throw into my guild bank for people to utilize and the number of some of my items was ridiculous!

For anyone who plays on a regular basis who does not have ESO Plus and struggles with inventory space (don't know anyone who doesn't struggle with space), I'm telling you now it's worth getting just for the craft bag. It has been a true blessing!

I farmed sparingly before the Crafting Bags, as I wanted to avoid the Mule/Inventory Shuffle Dance as much as possible. I was very selective about what I farmed and what character did the farming.

Now, I am basically walking around Tamriel like this

Lol I'm addicted to looting everything as well! A friend & I were running the Orsinium dungeons. He just wanted to rush through, but I was constantly stopping to check every pot & lootable container. He kept telling me to hurry up, calling me 'slower than a one-legged guar'! :D

I've always looted as much as I was able, because this is an elder scrolls game, and that's how I scrollz. The difference here is that we have a limited bank and no available house that I can fill from floor to ceiling with cheese wheels, no weapon racks to hang up shiny cool equipment, no barrels, no treasure chests, etc. Instead we have a crafting bag, which is maybe for the best. At any regard I loot to my hearts content because its relaxing and part of the fun. While I do feel the need to loot where possible, its probably bad form to be looting like a madman while you're trying to clear a dungeon quickly. I'd like to add that part of why I have an alt account was to deal with loot management. It was the only way I could hoover equipment and still enjoy the game (and not have to constantly bounce back to town). The crafting bag still forces me to go to town, but I'm not limited by crafting materials. Its a major quality of life improvement.

The crafting bag did this for me as well.

While I do not loot EVERYTHING, I do regularly autoloot all of that stuff as I am flying through. I love never having to run to the guild bank to grab provisioning mats every time a need food. It also make life easier to answer someone in guild chat who needs a quick couple of lvl x food for their alt or something. Or crafting armor for my alt or a friend doesn't need any micro-managing. I just always have that stuff on hand now.

One of the best quality of life/fun changes that I have seen come to this game.

    Guilty.
I've always played games this way. I suffer from "--but I might need that later!" or "but I might find something good this time...!". And the occasions I do are terrible motivators. This was especially challenging during early beta as I was not discouraged from looking into every pot just because I could. Even if I would inevitably lose all the loot.
