The NB class is definitely not an archer assassin mix up. There is no archer class in this game right now everything is all melee based or magic based.

    Some little maths:

12 class lines, 3 for each class, nevertheless:

1- DK: ardent flame and draconic power seem natural to DK. Earthen earth? No. It seems it was a Warden/Shaman line (nature). Then some attacks changed from poison? disease? to magic
2- NB: Assasination and Shadow seem to be natural to NBs. Siphon probably was taken fron Necro (don't remember NBs in Morrowind with health siphoning skills)
3- Sorc: Dark magic and Storm calling seem the natural choice for a sorc. Daedric summoning probably was taken from Necro and some attacks changed from ice to magic
4- Templar: Aedreic spear and dawn's wrath are natural to the templar archetype. Restoring light? seemed to be taken from Warden/Shaman (maybe it was restoring nature, and then changed to light... otherwise, why so many rituals?)

So, we have the 6 classes within the game right now, but the missing 2 merged with the current 4

    My 2 cents

Good observations. You were only correct with one of these though

    1. DK: It is tough to argue that any Dragonknight skill lines were ripped from a Warden or Necromancer class. Draconic Power is clearly a DK skill line, while both Ardent Flame and Earthen Heart make equally 100% sense. DK never changed. There are books written on them in ESO, and pure lore doesn't change if they only included Earthen Heart to make Wardens less left out.

    2. Based on extensive lore, siphoning is extremely NB like. Necromancer never merged with them. Siphoning is dark magic, quite different from Necrotic abilities in general. It is not a Necromancer skill line.

    3. Sorcerer is very much following lore. They summon Daedra, not Undead. Key difference between a Mage and Necromancer. They too had their vision, and did not stray from it when cutting classes.

Basically, these three classes were left as is.

    4. Templar: Apparently the Aedric Spear skill line was more expanded into another skill line that was a mix of healing and damage. When Warden was removed, that skill line's damage was merged into Aedric Spear, and the skill line made all healing.

If I had to guess at what Warden/Necromancer skill lines looked like, it was something like this.

    Warden
    1) Nature Magic - Damage, possibly pets
    2) Something else... probably themed with nature or another magic type. Includes totems and pets - Damage, Mitigation, pet(s)
    3) Healing (nature) Magic - Healing

    Necromancer
    1) Frost Magic - Damage
    2) Necrotic (light blue) magic - Damage, some defense. Lots of Crowd Control
    3) Summoning - Summoning skill line, mitigation.

That is all we can figure out from the info shown to us by ZOS.

Definitely cool to try to look for these classes being totally merged into the current four..... but they weren't :/

Templar is about 1/3 (or less) Warden, but that's it. Necromancer was cut extremely early in development and given strictly to NPCs. Warden was cut after announcement because they felt like having four, and moved the key skill line of Healing over to Templars :disappointed:

There is a chance that Ranger was a placeholder name for Warden as well. We can't really know.

When you look at NPC classes, there is one called a "Pet Ranger" which is based off the Warden's nature/wolf summoning magic.

If "Ranger" was actually a placeholder for Warden (not NB) it'd also make sense. Never thought of that. Also shows ZOS was sort of indecisive in their thought process for the final direction of this class. Maybe this is part of the reason it was cut :|

Lots of speculation. Hopefully they'll actually get released one day!

@Wrobel Hey.... so is there any chance we might be able to get a tiny bit of info regarding player classes cut from ESO? :#

If they are still coming in the future, a small teaser would be really cool. Understandable if you can't do this. If these classes were cut, maybe you could tell us something about what they would've been able to do?

Anything you can share would be awesome!

I disagree. Both potential classes are not part of the current skill lines. Some of your arguments are very weak (ardent flame, restoring light, siphoning). Even then, thank you for your points
