Any gap closer makes it impossible to cloak

Well I understand why gap closer will take you out of cloak. It makes sense. Either the game is going to register the gap closer and complete the attack. Or cloak would break gap closers at any point in the sequence and players would be in an uproar that cloak makes gap closers useless.

It's easy to escape using cloak if your fighting an opponent that doesn't use mage light, evil hunter, detection potions, piercing mark, volatile armor, ritual of retribution, jabs, caltrops, proxy det, steel tornado, power/sap essence, impulse, or really any other AoE in the game.

It use to do this I'm pretty sure. the gap closer would move you to the location but it wouldn't break cloak and you wouldn't take the damage. It changed in the thieves guild, it's suppose to be getting fixed in the next patch and gap closers won't break cloak again

Lol I can't think of an easier opponent to kill.

Anticipating your opponent's reaction is the most effective way to stealth and run.

I switched to the damage suppressing cloak and it got a tiny bit better. Try that. That will help with some of the dots taking you out

Thats the thing... DoT's should not be taking you out. Cloak is very broken still and only currently has fixes on the PC PTS. The Live server players have to deal with a buggy broken cloak.

Here's a list of all the issues with cloak that may or may not be fixed yet, it's still an on going thread. None of these issues are on live for console (not sure about PC).

They always seem to manage a smooth cloak getaway. Simply put, even though they may be swarmed, they can cloak right in front of you and they are gone.

My question is, how are these NBs managing to make cloak work so effectively?

Very simple, timing and because their enemies let them ...

    Major Expedition while invisible.

I wanted to point out that cloak doesn't break on distance: you could lick your enemy's ear without getting spotted.

Maybe thats the key, I guess while in stealth they can run like cheetahs far away in time. But again, we are literally in that NB's face hitting him and he just vanishes at our feet.

    Speed-Potions.jpg

So... that 47 seconds of increased speed is a true godsend, lasts long enough for the potion to re-arm itself, and gives you a huge boost to mobility. The potions effects also last in Cloak, so you can sprint away while cloaking. Consider getting a stack, chugging a potion in a tricky fight. I have ran away form zergs as if I was mounted and sprinting on it after I down one of these pots + sprinting.

Having major brute on this potion for such a long time is great for when you need to keep fighting various targets and need major brute up. This is also great because in the event you decide to peace out, you can turn around like a vicious animal and maul any would-be followers that dare try and give chase. Since, they probably don't know you have major brute up still. If you're running you're probably running low on stamina with maybe enough to attack back.

All the things Strider mentioned-- are one of the many reasons I have started chugging Essence of Speed and keeping Tri-pots available for group fights. If I have Major Expedition up for 47 seconds, I can easily weave around my opponent, give a good assessment of the situation, and it lasts long enough for me to pop a Vigor and run away inside of Cloak while Expedition is expiring.

Yeah, if only there were a version that ran Speed, Major Sorcery, Magicka Recovery. Best you can do is Speed and Spell Crit.

I know Magic gets a Detection, Major Sorcery, Magic Recovery. I know I would love to have that stamina version on my Stamina NB.

Speed beats detection though in overall utility. Not saying that you don't have a valid point and such a potion would indeed be helpful for a stam user. But detection pots are situational. Speed pots are not just for escape. They are also force multipliers for attack.

Oh yeah, I agree. Detection got a massive nerf down to something like 15 seconds when used. 47 seconds on a buff that helps a stamina user for such a long time is a massively good boon. Compared to something like, Double Take or Hastey Retreat on bow passive which barely last a fraction of how long Essence of Speed blesses you with.

I am of the opinion that stamina users who don't have good access to Major Expedition for an extended period of time will leave themselves wide open for enemies to jump on.

Yeah, that's why I think it's actually easier to escape with Maj. Expedition + shuffle + dodge roll + sprint to a LOS blocker and then use your 9k magicka to cloak 3+ times. Stamina NB's can be really tough to chase down. Perma cloak even with double take isn't nearly as good.

Edit: And don't forget eternal hunt either. Can't count the number of times I have hit those. That set is really effective.

Eternal Hunt inside of towers = OP 1.0

    There I said it

It is a great, 'Go away pls' kind of set if you need the regain. I REALLY wish I could run it and x5 Clever Alchemist 1.0 The rune never over stays its welcome either, which is one thing I personally liked about it when I use it to break LOS on my Stamplar. Though on my NB, I get so much more Weap DMG when running cloak/crouching inside of a blade of grass.
