CP PvP Unbalanced?

Let me start out by saying I'm cp170. Not a learn to play issue as I was pretty good in blackwater blade. However, after having all purple gear, a good build, with impen and purple enchants I'm still getting bursted way too fast. Is it my lack of cp? Or is pvp in general broken and unbalanced?

Without knowing much more detail about your build, and what kind of burstedness you're talking about, it's hard to say.

When I see people complain about CP being unfair, which isn't to say that's what you're doing, I think they're looking at it all wrong. Just because it's called Champion Points shouldn't confuse what it really is; being out-leveled. Those Champion Points represent a level in a way because they enhance player damage, mitigation and so on. Someone with 501 CP is a much higher "level" than someone with 170 CP.

I think it helps to think of it as levels. A level 170 getting beat by a level 501 doesn't scream imbalance.

Purp gear, if your weapons are purp you're down 200 weapon damage and or spell damage.

In non CP campaign the meta is EXTREMELY different as regen is king there. In CP campaign you'll find a lot of pure dps builds.

It depends on your build, also, the best defense in CP campaign is offense, forcing your opponent to spend some of his time to heal, ward, vigor etc keeps the pressure off of you. If you allow a dps build to go all out on you (and you're not built for that) you will die more often than not.

Azura's Star, no CP campaign. If you want a more fun and balanced PvP experience, this is the way forward. You generally don't get bursted as fast and you find far fewer "unkillable" build types.

In Azura's Star I've found it is more about player skill since no CP applies there. Yes, I am not discouraged that 501s can kill me. I guess I was more discouraged that last night (This may be lag, because ZOS lol) my magicka was insta drained by a poison, got 1 shotted a couple of times, stun locked like no other. Just seems like a much faster meta and much more dangerous than anything I had experienced up until this point.

I'm running all purple gear and all purple enchants. My build is a mDK with @DKsUnite build on it. Basically 5 piece tavas, 5 piece transmutation. 2 piece Bloodspawn. back bar has 2 piece endurance since it is my buff bar. I don't block nearly as much as I should but certainly that shouldn't mean any stam DPS build can crit charge for a 10k+ hit consistently. Maybe I should level up my CP and try again at around 300?

I'm not completely discouraged, considering I have been able to kill quite a lot of people or survive in 1vX situations. So maybe the times I've been completely destroyed within 5 seconds are just burst DPS builds. Anyways I thought I'd ask people who have been playing longer than me. Thanks for all the answers.

I'm finding CP very easy to grind. I can get about 20 cp a day if I spend time on it. Just use training gear and ambrosia pots. Grab a buddy. Easily get 150% xp increase which seems to be about half enlightenment.

I would never, ever enter Trueflame campaign without 501 CP and all Best In Slot gold gear. You are just setting yourself up to fail because you will be at a huge disadvantage.

You can go to Azura's Star with no champion system, but you'll still need gold gear, best in slot gear and be 160 CP

so stick to PvE until you have the top, absolute best gear or you are just cannon fodder.

then, and only then, can you get better at pvp

Play Azuras until you hit 400 CP or so. At 400, the gap between you and the other 501 guy is pretty thin.

You'll be fine on AZ without 160CP and whatever gear you bring. There are many people who play with less and still have fun (by 'have fun' I mean they are competitive, no one shot deaths, few immortal builds, no instant ganks without having a chance to respond.)

Did I miss a /sarcasm tag? PVE, a stack of gold tempers and grinding some fancy gear won't make anyone a good PVPer... playing PVP does. I'd rather have the reflexes of a 30 year old than gold gear. And most of mine is not, but I still have fun.

OP: Go play Azuras. Have successes and failures, you'll get better without max level everything. But the playing field will be more level while you do.

There is a catch-up mechanic. The less CP you have, the faster you earn it.
