Volenfell: Quintus Verres "the Untauntable"

I'm tank and I noticed a possible bug with Quintus Verres. At start of the battle it locks on some player and could not be taunted off that player. Neither "Pierce Armor" nor "Inner Fire" work. He keeps running after that player and attacking the player with light and heavy attacks.

I suspect that it locks on the first played that attacked him. Usually, it is not me and none is waiting for tank to take aggro. I do not have a problem of taunting any other boss in that dungeon with the same groups. So over-taunt is not issue here.

The similar problem is with Drodda of Icereach in Direforst Keep and her light attacks, but the situation does not look as clear as with Quintus Verres.

Have any other tank experienced a problem with tanking Quintus Verres or some other bosses?

    There is certainly a lot of attack-random-player or attack-all-players boss skills. But for light and heavy attacks Quintus one of very few exceptions. I have noticed a similar behaviour only for Drodda so far.

    I had this problem the other night. He zeroed in on one of our groups DPS and no matter how many times I tried Pierce or Inner fire, he refused to have his attention drawn from this player, who became quite frustrated because he assumed I wasn't doing my job.

    He's one of those annoying bosses that cannot be taunted unfortunately. He'll just pick someone randomly, chase them around for a little bit, and then stop and chase someone else and you can't control who he decides to chase. Your group members just have to block through it. I know it really sucks as the tank to feel helpless in this fight but you can taunt the gargoyle he spawns at least.

    Now we need comment from ZOS whether this is a bug or feature.

    If you need to taunt that boss, your group has other issues to deal with. This dungeon can be soloed at 160... a tank is not required at all.

    one of the guardians at the last boss fight is also untauntable.

    i would also say that quintus is untauntable having killed him hundreds of times

    If you need to taunt that boss, your group has other issues to deal with. This dungeon can be soloed at 160... a tank is not required at all.

    Note, this is level 37 dungeon, not a CP160 dungeon. And groups at this level really need taunts to stay alive when dungeon is scaled to CP160. There is no problem for CP 100+ groups, except for curses in direction of the tank.

    I have found he will chase one person until they let him hit them with his big over hand chop. So they can either block that and he will pick someone else to harass, or they can run around in a circle letting everyone else dps and never getting hit.
