So I am just wondering is all the best gear in this game crafted? OR is it like WoW where it drops in raids or what?

I am looking for a game with very fun crafting :)

There is a reasonable mixture of crafted and dropped sets for quite a variety of builds across the classes. There very viable crafted sets (unlike wow). There is also a decent variety of sets available between drops, dungeon drops, world bosses, raids and in certain PVP spots, sp you eil;; have a decent choice

one surprise in store for you - well, it was for me - is that if you gained more than 160 cp on other toons you can use anything, food pots and gear - top lvl stuff once you get a new toon to lvl 50. no, really. when did that happen?

I enjoy crafting, but sadly it isn't possible to make a career out of crafting in ESO. Your character still has to be a hero and do quests in order to level up enough to have sufficient skill points for the crafting skills.

I would have enjoyed playing a Nord blacksmith who never left his home village, but it was not to be.

Anyway, make sure you have traits being researched all the time. The most useful traits for armour are: Divines, Infused, and Impenetrable, and the most useful traits for weapons are: Sharpened, Precise and for Restoration staffs, Powered. Never let a research slot go empty because the real-time taken for research doubles for each successive trait on the same slot!

Couple of updates ago, think it was the Thieves Guild.

You can compete at the highest levels using only crafted gear. There are some exceptional sets you can buy with pvp rewards from Imperial City, as well as some amazing drop-only items from dungeons as well as trials.

One thing about this game that makes it far superior to world of Warcraft and most mmo types is the incredible control you have over how your character looks. If you have your own crafter, even well before you reach the level where you can craft everything and anything, you have the flexibility of making test pieces out of common material, going to the dye station and experimenting to find your own unique look.

Soon as the server comes up, I'll post a picture of my Dragonknight tank, as he's the one I'm most proud of. I spent several hours buying motifs (the items that unlock crafting styles) and making test pieces before I had the parts I didn't have the skill to do myself made.

'End game' (God I hate how that term is thrown around in this community) is very expensive to make so it's usually to your best interest to take your time before you commit. I suggest a website like Eso-fashion.com to give you an idea of what's possible.

As an FYI, go for six traits in all armor types and all weapon types when you prioritize your research. With that, you've unlocked the gear sets that 90% of the time you'll want to use anyway. The higher sets are nice and some are pretty badass, but the six trait sets are money for the most part.

Prioritize the "good" traits first for research. You don't want to be 6-7 traits deep and find out you don't have Divines, Infused, or Impen unlocked! Do those 3 traits first!!!
