    People keep mentioning mounts.

Why? Are they important for some reason?

I'll admit that I'm starting over from scratch after many months off, but, even previously when I made it up to V14, I never used a mount.

Perhaps they're more important in PvP?

Personally, my biggest pet-peeve is people calling mounts in the middle of a city and tearing about like they actually have something important to do.

    Speed and Storage

Well... I'm one of those deplorable players that has to explore every nook and cranny and never wants to miss anything and doesn't keep inventory (I donate 90% to my guild bank or sell), not with the craft bag anyway. It used to be an issue, but, since the craft bag doesn't weigh anything, I have no reason to keep anything and have plenty of bank space.

Sounds like someone doesn't go to Cyrodiil. A 60 speed/60 stam mount is basically required.

I also change mounts depending on what color/motif my gear is but thats just for aesthetics.

You are right, although I am considering going this time through. I've had very bad experiences there on my priors and avoided it like the plague (although, oddly, I didn't mind the IC so much).

I buy a few mounts, pets and costumes. I bought the extra character slots. I bought a stack of crown repair kits the one time I was "that guy" that jumps into the last boss of a trial on a character that is completely unprepared.

I need to do some appearance tweaks in the next patch, so I'm saving crowns for that currently.

A vamp scroll, a wolf scroll, a few respec scrolls, any new senche mount, any new senche pet, a shipload full of repair kits, another shipload full of xp scrolls, glass motif (yes, I gave in to the temptation), most of the costumes when crownstore was new, three of the DLCs for account three (no sub on that one).

I'm sitting on 31,500 crowns if I'm not mistaken. I will not validate their peddling of pixels and fluff by spending them. I find it hard to justify playing - and therefore subscribing - to ESO right now, so my sub is currently cancelled as I play out the remaining time on my ESO+. After that, who knows...

So... you either bought extra crowns or have 21 months of crowns you have never spent... Im pretty sure you have been validating them plenty enough that they don;t care what you say.

I play around with builds and change my mind every five minutes so I buy repec-attrib scrolls, i tend to bleed gold upgrading various bits and pieces so its a cost I don't have to worry about. I'd probably buy champion resets too if they sold them.

I've done all the upgrades, and I'm actually not sure what to spend them on now. Mounts and costumes don't really interest me very much.

The crown store is a nice thing IMO, but limited. But then I do applaud ZOS for refusing to stock items that would take us towards a pay to win scenario.

I've never spent a crown. Yes, I'm validating them to some extent, namely by still subscribing. But my money isn't going towards the crown store, so at best when someone crunches the numbers they'll ask themselves "Why are some people not interested in anything we throw their way in the crown store?" At worst, I'm not contributing to the "x pixels sold" numbers.

If you're wondering why I'm so adamant in my position against the crown store, let's consider the most popular sales others have mentioned here and how the store has impacted the game:

    - Mounts. Used to be purchasable with in-game gold, i.e. all mounts available to all players by playing the game, no extra charge. Now you get "loyalty mounts", exclusive mounts, time-limited mounts... There is no limit to how much you can spend on mounts in this game when ZOS can always repaint old mounts and put them up for sale. I call this the "bottomless pit" aspect of microtransactions. It's also a paywall to a much greater extent than a subscription fee.
    - Riding lessons. These are still purchasable with in-game gold, but ZOS have removed the pre-leveled mounts. While previously you could start a new character and have 20 or 25 speed (or bag space, or stamina) increase from the start, now you need almost a month to get to that point. You could use 3 different horses for different purposes and max them in about a month; now it takes 6 months. This is a significant time wall intended to push people towards the store and affecting subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
    - Costumes/polymorphs. These were already in the game in the form of disguises looted in certain areas, costumes received as a reward for achieving a given milestone in player progression (VR2 and VR6 if I'm not mistaken) and polymorphs used in certain quests and that you got to keep. The crown store costumes/polymorphs at again a bottomless money pit and a paywall for content that, albeit cosmetic, should be available to any player by simply playing the game.
    - DLC. This is a tricky one since all DLC are available to subscribers as long as their subscription is active. Still, I think the global impact of the crown store model has been strongly negative.
Many game items, namely certain gear sets, are behind the paywall of DLC. At the same time ESO has one of the worst loot systems I've seen in an MMO (RNG layer on top of RNG layer on top of RNG layer) which means the chance of completing a set is very low, and because ZOS don't want to give access to this geat to non-buyers/non-subscribers, the vast majority is bound on pickup. This makes getting a given set a very significant grind, to the point of being unreasonable.
In addition, we've seen that expansions (I hate the term DLC and what it stands for as a model) have been getting ridiculously smaller and smaller. The first two expansions were lower and upper Craglorn, huge areas with challenging quests and zone-specific assets (anomalies and rifts, nirncrux, etc). Then came IC (not huge in terms of map, but included a lot of new items, new mechanics, two challenging new group dungeons). Then Wrothgar (again, large map, long quest line with many side quests, 2 large public dungeons, 1 solo trial). And then they came up with Thieves Guild which has a puny map, a skill line that is all but useless and little else apart from the new trial, Maw of Lorkhaj. I haven't set foot in Hew's Bane in weeks, there is simply no reason to go back there at all. Dark Brotherhood is the same: finished the zone in 2 weeks and can't see any reason whatsoever to go back there. And the next expansion will consist of 2 dungeons with no new zone.
Yeah, if you ask me, the DLC have been getting worse and worse.
    - Motifs. This is one of the things that got more screwed up with the crown store model. At launch there were three types of motifs: common (you basically tripped on them while going about your business), rare (hard to find, only available in your VR zones) and legendary (restricted to the imperial motif, it was a momentous occasion when you looted this one). All of the motifs were single books. Then came the "pages" and the infamous glass motif "fragments", along with more new motifs than those that were in the game to begin with. Getting motifs nowadays is no longer about exploring the world and being lucky enough to come across them; it's about either grinding them mindlessly or waiting for the next DLC when the "old" motifs are added to the crown store.

I could go on, but surely you get the picture. The crown store has impacted the game and its design, and ESO is a worse game for it.

Prior to the crafting bag, I subscribed until I had the crowns to buy the expansion and then canceled the sub. Since Dark Brotherhood I'm permanently subbed for the crafting bag and my crowns will probably be buried in dust before they get spent.
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

The DLC`s, costumes and the flaming horse. Don`t like their other mounts, when i think about riding a cat i either see a panther with a broken spine or me getting eaten..

I find it ok tho, if they even add non fluff things i will play something else... hate any form of pay to win even tho i have like 250 days of sub left and i could afford to buy it i just play games to relax not be in a bidding war with real money.

Would sure wish they would fix the damn bugs tho!

    Mounts, Costumes... very rarely pets.

I've been buying the Hero costumes. I picked up the Dro'Mathra Senche, the Ald Velothi Guar. The ancestor lizard. Three character slots... Grabbed the Treasure Hunter and Toxin Doctor outfits. I've got about 3k right now, but I'm probably going to grab some extra and pick up the Wolf and Breton Hero costume while they're available.

A mount or a costume here and there. I bought repair kits once when I was running a dungeon on a character that didn't have them. Also bought IC and Orsinium. Will buy TG and DB as well (and the dungeon pack).

I've been thinking about the Assitants, but since they don't work in Cyrodiil and I now have the craft bag, they really are not necessary.
